Anyone else applying to Prairie View for Spring 2014 semester? How far are you in the process? Just wanted to make a thread for us to support each other along the way. Good luck to all the applicants!

Hi itzkneemo! Welcome to the forum! I believe the letters are required since it is stated on the application checklist. How far are you in the application process?

Hello I am new to this forum. I have a question about the letters of recommendation. It's kind of dumb for me to ask, but I want to know if it's something that is required? I took my prereqs at two different institution and didn't really talk to any of my professors to ask for letter of recommendation, nor do I have time to volunteer due to family responsibilities.[/quote']

Hello... Yes you need the two letters of recommendation, and I believe you can get one from your current job.

Thank you lalacb123! I just got back from dropping off the application and other documents, but I did not include letters of recommendation. This is actually my second time applying. I applied for fall 2013 but was put on the waiting list, probably because I was still taking two classes at that time. The last time i applied I did not send LOC also, so I thought it wasn't required.

@Moneca:

I'm not currently working. Just going to school and taking care of my little brother. Thank you for the advice. :)

I know right. Me and you were in the same boat itzkneemo. I was also taking two classes and they put me on the waiting list as well. :down: I would wait for Ms. A to e-mail you the advisement report or call her and ask.

I think you need the letters, but call MS A. She will back on August 1 talk to her, do not talk with her secretary sometimes she does not things. This is my second time applying too. Good luck

I'll call her or ask when she emails me after receiving my app. She did not mention anything about recommendation letters the last time i applied though.. Thanks guys :)

honestly, I feel so discouraged.. but I'm hanging in there. My application will probably be incomplete without the letters.. The admission process is so stressful.. especially after getting rejected or put on the waiting list.. GOOD LUCK to you guys :)

Don't feel discouraged. I agree, the admission process if very stressful. They just incorporated the Letters of Recommendation requirement for the first time this application cycle. It doesn't seem as though that could make/break your application, especially if you were on the waiting list last semester. My Letters of Recommendations weren't even mentioned on my e-mail.

Do you know, when we should know something?

I don't have the slightest idea.

Ms. A said that the letters are required.. OH NO. now I'd have to stress trying to find people for the letters. How many letters did you send in? Does one of them have to be from like a supervisor "detailing your community service" like the admission checklist says?

One of my letters was from my current professor, and the other was from my honors society.
