Is there a nursing shortage in Houston?

U.S.A. Texas

I am finally moving to Houston in January and I have some interviews in december which I will be flying in town for. Everyone keeps tellng me "dont sell yourself short" Here in Arizona they need nurses so bad and you can really negotiate your pay once you have a little experience under your belt. I will have 10 months experience working as a full time rn, and an additional year as a nurse extern, similar to LPN. Are they just as desperate in Houston? What is realistic as far as pay goes for hospitals outside the med center in Houston? I would really appreciate any feedback.

I have heard that the pay outside the medical center was in the low 20's, here is a website of some places outside the MC http://hcacareers.com
