Texas CRNA 2021 Application

Hi everyone! Haven't seen a thread for this application cycle so just thought I'd start one. I am applying to UTHealth, Baylor, TCU, and LSU for 2021 start.

My stats are:

GPA: 3.60

GRE: 315 (Q 158/V 157/W 4.5)

CCRN: 104/125

BLS/ACLS/PALS

1.5 years MICU/SICU

So nervous!! (especially for those interviews!!)

Sooo how is everyone feeling about their interviews? I had a group interview. The questions were SUPER tough.

Right off the bat it was clinical questions and that's what like 90% of the interview was with hardly any personal questions at all.  Big focus on cardiac topics, pt scenarios,  drugs and how they work (what receptors, etc), given an ekg to interpret, calculate math, logic questions, questions about support system and how you destress/what u do for fun, etc. It was alot but I felt like it went pretty good. Lasted the whole 1.5hr and it was me, one other student and 2 faculty members.

Had my group interview. The topics covered were not of my specialty but instead covered the speciality of the majority of the group (I was the minority ICU specialty). The staff was amazing, polite, and very friendly(They even cracked pretty good jokes). They seem like very involved individuals and are happy with what they do. I was really nervous in the beginning and it really affected my answers. Don't want to discuss to much of the interview due to integrity of the interview process. What I can tell you is, relax, be confident, and allow yourself 2-5seconds to process the question before trying to regurgitate an answer. I ended up rambling out what I thought was right, to only research after and find out that I did not allow myself time to process what was coming out of my mouth. Did not do as well as I would have liked but the reality is that the topics questioned were straight forward.

Does anyone know if there’s a possibility that we hear back prior to the 2 week mark? Not sure when the previous years have found out. Need to put a deposit down for another school within the week if I don’t get accepted, but nervous I won’t hear back in time.

The orientation video said 2 weeks, when we did the practice TEAMS run Sunday night, that lady said nov 6th or the 9th at the latest but during the interview Monday the faculty said they are having a "sit down" Oct 30th to go back over all the candidates and to give them by Nov 13th for final decisions so I don't know when to expect it...

They told me the same thing - they'd have a big sit down October 30th and make decisions then. They'll send names to the office of admissions who will email us by November 9th. I'm hopeful it will be a lot closer to October 30th than November 9th, though :)

I guess they're gonna wait till after they meet Friday =/ was hoping to hear something before then too

I know in years past, they knew days after interviewing. I keep hoping they told us November just to be on the safe side, but it doesn't seem like we'll know before then.
