Hi! I haven't noticed a thread made for this year, but I know I am not alone in applying to CRNA school, figured a way for everyone to share updates and stats! Super scary/exciting applying this year but I wish everyone the best!
My stats:
GPA 3.70, GRE 307 4.5 writing, CCRN, 2 years now as a CVICU RN. I have taken organic chemistry 1 in the fall.
I got an interview with both UT and Baylor. My prep consisted of practicing basic interview questions in the mirror. I watched lectures from current CRNA's and I used topics and key words that they used in their lecture during my interview. Thats especially important for questions like "What does a CRNA do?" Or "Why do you want to be a CRNA?" I have over seven years of ICU experience so I was already sound in my hemodynamics and drips. I got waitlisted by a school last year and it's because I bombed the interview so I practiced my interview skills non stop. It really helped.
I will echo RN1290's sentiment; look at the conferencing platform being used and try to do a test call with someone ahead of time. Many of the video conferencing platforms will offer a free account during COVID for testing. You can check your audio, your lighting levels, and your camera angle. Also look into some of the cool options in Zoom if that is the platform. There is a "soften my appearance" option which can make you look like a glam model. ?
Also, highly recommend using headphones instead of your computer speakers to avoid any echo. Also if you can connect to audio over the internet (as opposed to calling in) your voice will sound fuller and more rich. Calling into a bridge will compress your voice into a narrow, low quality connection.
Let me know if you have any tech questions about your conferencing setup.

I got an interview to UT, but denied it since I am happy with TCU. Hopefully that helps some of y'all out. Keep your heads up, you will reach your goal one way or the other!!
Advice wise, I found a mock interview and 10/10 recommend. I did mine through CRNA prep academy! She gave me great things to work on, and was good to have someone that doesn't know me look at me in the interview standpoint. I have heard UT does clinical, personal, and ethical questions. So prepare for the potential clinical questions. TWU my friend last year was asked all clinical. Specifically: what is preload, when are your coronary arteries perfused and why are they perfused then, what is after load. She is a CVICU nurse tho so know they expected her to know hemodynamics. And there is one Chemistry professor in the interviews that if you have her she ask a simple Chemistry question, its okay if you don't know it tho. Good luck to everyone!!
