Texas Board Petition for NCLEX

Hello all-
I am about to start my senior year in nursing school so I wanted to submit all the necessary paperwork to the Texas BON so that everything is ready to go upon graduation for me to take the NCLEX. I have a question though...
When I was younger (high school and college) I received a few MIP's (minor in possession of alcohol). The issue is that I can't find record of some of these offenses anywhere in the courts. I believe some of them are sealed due to how old I was at the time and others dismissed due to paid fines/community service (and one court said they purge records every 5 years). SO since I don't have any documentation pertaining to them, how should I go about reporting them to the BON? They request specific documentation in regards to dismissal of charges (which I have for one citation but not the 2 others). The court swears there's nothing on my record and that they won't show up on a background check but paranoid me doesn't want to "lie" to the BON and leave them out. Has anyone had a similar experience before? I'm just not sure how to explain them in the letter that I have to send.
I'd just hate to mess this up and have it affect my eligibility for the NCLEX!

I just told them. My MIP was 4 months before my 21st bday. It was a ticket I had to pay and a hand full of classes. I also never saw it on my record and the court said it wasn't on there, but I just told the BON and never heard a peep from them about it.

To me, its best just to be honest. Even if you don't think it's a big deal and it probably won't effect you, at least it cant come back to bite you later on if you disclose it up front. A lady I went to school with had a marijuana charge from 1982 that she didn't disclose and she paid for it.

I knew I wanted to disclose to them, I just wasn't sure how. I am not even sure the exact dates of the citations because it was so long ago (1998, 2000). I was afraid they'd ask for documentation that I had taken care of them with the court...I guess I'll just provide as much info as I can and as long as it's not on my record they hopefully won't ask for more documentation. :)

Hello DallasNurse! I know this thread is very old but my situation sounds similar to yours. I graduated May 2013 and had some MIPs (well actually two MIPS and one Minor in Consumption of alcohol) on my record from 2008. I did not know to do a Declaratory Order while in school so when I graduated in May my file was sent off into enforcement. I finally heard back from them in December and doing a chemical dependency evaluation tomorrow. I am just wondering if you had to do a chemical dependency evaluation. Also, were you able to get your license with no stipulations on it or did they try to put you into any kind of monitoring program? Any information would be greatly appreciated!

I wrote a letter explaining the situation and included what documentation I had. Got my ATT with no issues and no I didn't have to do chemical dependency or have any stipulations on my license. Good luck, I know it's nerve wracking! :)
