  1. I am. I live in Wichita Falls. I have a warning with stipulations on my license from a med error I made in 2010. I am having a hard time deciding which company to go with and what I need to brush up on. Any advice? I am really, really nervous.
  2. I know this post is old from March but I was wondering how it went. I am needing to take this class before Nov. and trying to decide which company to go with and what to brush up on. Any advice?
  3. I just told them. My MIP was 4 months before my 21st bday. It was a ticket I had to pay and a hand full of classes. I also never saw it on my record and the court said it wasn't on there, but I just told the BON and never heard a peep from them about it. To me, its best just to be honest. Even if you don't think it's a big deal and it probably won't effect you, at least it cant come back to bite you later on if you disclose it up front. A lady I went to school with had a marijuana charge from 1982 that she didn't disclose and she paid for it. Good Luck and Congrats!
  4. The Texas BNE is very hard to deal with!! Very hard! And yes, they do take their time. I made a med error ( I take 100% responsibility for) in May 2010 I FINALLY recieved my Warning with stimpulations from them in Nov 2011. They don't get in any kind of a hurry. Most of the time when I call to check on things, they are usually nice and helpful but they just take their time. I'm not sure if it's because they are overloaded or what....good luck.
  5. Hello! I have stipulations on my LVN license after I made a med error in May 2010. I have to work 64hr/month, manager reviews every 3 months and take 3 classes. The classes consist of: Jurisprudence & Ethics, Nursing Documentation, Medication Administration. Does anyone have and experience with these classes? Who did you use and what did you have to do for each class? I have applied for a RN program and will find out if I was accepted the first week in May. Do you think I should as the BON to consider these college classes as part of these 3 classes? I will be doing clinicals with med admin, I have took a health assessment class with a head to toe ax with documentation and will be covering ethics in Transition this summer. Any ideas, thoughts,or experiences? I appreciate any advise you all have :)
  6. HIPAA violation 100%!! As far as the 180 days go, the nurse who sent the picture can not get in trouble by the Dept of Health and Human Service after 180 days after the picture was sent, however; there is NO TIME LIMIT with the BON. I am going through the same thing right now. When I delievered my daughter in Nov 2011 a coworker (also a nurse) violated my and my daughters HIPAA rights and I had to make sure to have my paperwork for the Dept of Health and Human services sent before the 180 days were up. At the very least, the nurse should lose her job!
  7. Hi!! Yes, Vernon College is pretty much the only college (vocational) around here. Well, within a hour anyway. I did the LVN program there in '05 and have applied for the upcoming Summer 2012 LVN-RN transition program. You do have to have your basics done with a 2.5 gpa, pass the Hesi A2 entrance test, and if you are already a LVN and plan on transitioning they recommend you to have Pharm and Health Assessment done (again recommended not required). Entrance is also based on how many applicants they have and your timeliness in applying and having the required paperwork returned to them. There is also Midwestern State University, who offers a BSN program. They are much more competitive and expensive. The entrance there is based off a point system including: GPA, entrance score, expirence, how many classes you too at MSU, etc.
