Texas A&M Corpus Christi Spring 2018

Published

Hey Everyone!! I plan on applying to TAMUCC for spring 2018 eline. I haven't seen any threads about spring 2018 so I thought that I would start.

My stats

Overall GPA 3.7

Science GPA 3.5

I plan to take the Hesi in may.

I do have a few questions. Is foreign language required to apply? Can you take patho and pharm at another four year university or do you have to take it at TAMUCC. If there is anyone currently in the program I would love to get your insight on the program.

Yes you need to take all the portions except the physics portion, including critical thinking.

Pharm and patho have to be completed before your cohort starts, my advisor told

Me I needed to take both of those classes with tamucc but I have heard of people taking getting those classes transferred but you have to get it checked and approved by your advisor first, who then I believe asks the board to see if you can receive credit.

Geez. So, even though I have A's in CHEM 1 & 2, I'll be punted because I didn't take the CHEM portion of the HESI. I wonder if there is any flexibility? I'll also ask about the pharm and patho courses via an advisor. Thanks so much for your reply!

I was excited to hear i was able to register for Pharm and Patho, but then i realized they are pre-requs, whether you are accepted or not...silly me...

The HESI Chemistry was not bad actually, the HESI in general is easy. I did bad on the grammar part, 74! ugh.

I was on the same boat as you I had already taken my hesi for a different school, A's in all my Chem classes, but there wasn't any flexibility when it came to the hesi, I had to retake the entire thing over again. (They won't let you take one section individually)

But the Chem part of the hesi isn't crazy hard by any means. I was suprised. I made a 87 on the Chem portion and was happy.

Good luck! :)

I did terrible on grammar also í ¾í´¦í ¼í¿»*♀️ I think I made like a 73. I was like "do I not know English??" Lol but growing up in south Texas, out English is so chopped compared to "proper" English lol.

I had a few friends that took patho and pharm together and they did say it was challenging, patho isn't really all that hard, just be sure to read, you can take the exams at home on your own time (b4 the deadline of course) and you do group discussions about what the professor gives you and that's it. Pharm tho.... I've heard nothing but horror stories lol that's why I waited to take it for fall, after I've applied so that if I end up with a B, it won't affect my overall gpa to get accepted into the program.

Good luck :)

The committee is meeting this week! Decision letters will be mailed out the first week or second week of October! (fingers crossed)

The Admission committee met this week and there will be good news and sad news going out for some. For those that did not make it in this time, we'll talk about it in our private conference as to what you might be able to improve upon for next time. As always, the competition was fierce. The averages for the Spring cohort are: 3.5 GPA, 3.5 Science GPA, 85 HESI composite, 862 Critical Thinking, and 90 Reading. If you even had 1 that dropped pretty significantly below this, you may not have made it in. On the other hand, if you were very close in all areas, you may have still made it in. The letters usually go out within 2-3 weeks.

(I recieved this email from my professor who is on the committee)

I'm actually pretty nervous to find out if I got in... I was wait listed for the Fall. My GPA is a 3.83, my science gpa is a 3.25, my overall hesi is an 85, my critical thinking is a 850 and my reading is a 93. Seeing the averages, i'm not sure if I got in now.

your stats are great, i mean its just the average, doesnt mean you wont get in if you are below. my stats are 3.4 overall, 3.75 science, 83 hesi, 870 critical thinking and 98 reading

Yeah you got in for sure. I was wait listed for the fall (most likely) because my science GPA was a 2.75. I've since boosted that up to 3.25. I mean, I meet the ideal criteria so we'll see. I just wouldn't want to be taking these classes for nothing.

I was wait listed in the fall also, so hopefully ill get in. we'll see, they are sending the letters out next week. so we should hear something really soon. have you taken pharm

You were wait listed with those stats? Really? I saw people who were accepted with lower stats than you. Unless they weigh each section differently. I am currently taking pharm and patho.
