Hello I was trying to see if anyone was applying for the nursing program for Commerce?
I'm applying for this coming up fall, and I'm excited but nervous at the same time. I was wondering how many students they accept each semester. I'm applying with a science Gpa 3.4 and overall a 3.5
I had been told that everyone would receive an email eventually letting them know if they made it in or not. It is just an odd way to notify people by slowly trickling responses out. I know they only accept 50 or so (or some set number), so it would just make sense to me to rate the applications, find your top 50 and then notify everyone at the same time good or bad. Because how else will they ensure to get the exact number they are looking for? It is kinda miserable to just keep checking your email for two weeks, and I think their notification system is kinda crappy tbh. But oh well.
I am a current nursing student at TAMUC. The program has horrible professors who treat the majority of students unfairly. This program is extremely unorganized and the communication between students and professors is awful. I recommend applying to another nursing program where you will actually learn the skills needed to become a successful nurse.
Those of you that made it into the program, I have a question. I will have a 6 month old and 3 older children when I start the nursing program and I was curious what the schedule is like for classes and clinicals during each year. I plan on using the childcare program at the college for my younger two children. I was just curious what the classes and clinicals are like and when you were able to study.

Where do you live? I have children and it is very hard. Just know that clinical sites are all over the place. Some in Dallas, Paris, Sherman, Mesquite, Rowlett, and Greenville. When assigning you to clinical sites, they do not take in to where you live nor will they accommodate you because you have children. Clinicals will change every semester. Most of the time you are in class 1-2 days a week and clinical 1 day a week, but know that there is a HEAVY workload. Also, some semesters you will have 2 clinicals. Clinicals are 630a-3p and you will have clinical paperwork due the next day by 11:59p.

Oh man. I went and spoke with an advisor last Friday and she had told me that they were slowly letting people know about acceptance. Maybe they are still in the process of letting people know (I hope so). Keeping my fingers crossed!!
