Texas A&M College Station

Published

Hey Ya'll!

Is anyone here applying, attending or a graduate of Texas A&M? I was just wondering if anyone else was in my shoes wondering what to expect because it is such a new program. Thanks for your help!!

I have applied for the Fall 2010 program as well. I was able to talk with a student at TWU and he was advised not to go to A&M CS. The reason being is, until A&M proves that it had a good nursing program, the students graduating from the program will have to prove themselves. In a couple of years it will probably be a great nursing program just because it is associated with A&M.

My one worry are the opportunities for clinicals. I may have a chance to study nursing in Houston where their are a lot more hospitals to choose from for clinicals. I hope to get into any program that will take me at this point.

Were you asked for background check from Texas A&M? (LindsayPaige)?

I've applied for the program at TAMHSC for fall 2010. Although it is relatively new, it is approved by the Texas Board of Nursing. Their most recent NCLEX pass rate was very high and I have no doubt that the program will perform well and earn a great reputation because it is a part of a very good school with a good reputation for producing great healthcare professionals. My stance on nursing school is that if it is approved by the Texas Board of Nurses then it is approved by me. I know that I can prove myself to employers no matter what nursing school I attend.

I was asked for the background check. Do you care sharing your scores at all? The best of luck to you.

I received a 90% on the HESI, and my overall GPA is a 3.1 . Science GPA is not so great either. I made a B for AP1, A for AP2, C for Micro and B for Chemistry. I'm worried but hopeful! What about you?

HESI = 86%

Overall GPA = 3.1

AP 1 = A

Micro = A

Chem = B

I'm finishing AP 2 right now. Chemistry kicked my but. I was so close to ahving an A it killed me to make a B. Your scores look really good. I hope we get in.

Me too! Good luck! Try not to go crazy with anticipation! =)

:bugeyes: I've already been going crazy with anticipation for that letter in the mail.

The system is not allowing me to reply to your private message (I think because I just joined today). I'm not currently living in College Station, but A&M is definitely my first choice because it is not too horribly far away from DFW (my current home). I also applied to El Centro in Dallas, and I am working on an application for Texas Tech Second Degree program. My husband is taking prerequisites for PA school so he is pretty open to moving anywhere for me. =) What about you?

I'm in the Houston area myself. The Texas Tech program looks really attractive since everything is online except clinicals a few days a week. I'm pretty open to attending any nursing school a this point. What PA program is your husband wanting to attend?

The private message thing, I think you have to have at least 15 posts.

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

The previous poster is correct, site requirements are 15 or more posts to be able to send or respond to a PM. This is due to the spam problems we used to get
