Well, I managed to get that 4th test done on 4 hours of sleep this morning. I wasn't up because I was studying...just couldn't sleep. I got 96/110 on the test so that's an 87%. My overall course grade is an 85%...a B...I'm still shocked. I think I've got the second highest grade in the class.
Clinicals start on Monday and I'm psyched. We don't do any clinicals in the LTC facilities. Med/Surg this semester, and OB and ER and Surgery next semester.
I know of at least 3-5 students who will no longer be in our class after today's test...and quite a few more that will have to miss the first two weeks of clinicals and do really well on the next test to stay in the program...and then make up those missed clinicals. We have a pretty tough program...one of the top in our state, so it's not for the faint of heart.
Hope ya'll are keeping your chins up, taking deep breaths and putting your all into your program...it will be worth it all.

Hey, congrats on keeping your grade high enough to go! We don't have anything like that, we just have to go and pass our other courses (seminar, theory, and lab) with a 80% or higher. Clinicals are on a pass/fail basis only. Good job to you and keep your breathing steady!

Great Job!!!
Our program has guidelines that say you have to be passing theory when clinicals start or you can't go. That means having a 69% average when clinicals start. You have to have 75% to pass the course at the end of the term. Our clinicals themselves are pass/fail.
I like their rationale for it too...if you aren't grasping the information enough to be making at least a 69% in theory, then you really have no business caring for patients in a clinical setting.

Congrats, sounds like you are doing great and have the right attitude to succeed! In my program we must have at least a 77% in all lecture classes and pass a demonstration lab test before attending clinicals. Below that average or failing the labs and you are out of the program. You can reapply but have no promise of re-entry. Keep up the excellent work

78% passing here, there was a student last semester, who made a 77.7% and she was out. Scarrrrrrrrrrrrrry

Congrats!! I've been holding my own very well until today's second test...UGH....I think someone switched my REAL book for a fake....I felt like such a dummy....a lot of the other students were not happy with the test either, but I still feel like I shouldn't have missed some of this material....it's a good wakeup call as I don't want to be in a borderline position as we get near the end...
We also have to pass practicums/labs w/70% or more to pass the entire course....I'm way ahead of that curve so far!
