Tennessee nursing...

U.S.A. Tennessee

Hey everyone! So, I'm graduating in December :yeah: from the accelerated BSN program at MUSC and am moving to Nashville, TN after I take my boards. If any of you work in Tennessee can you tell me how much the yearly salary is?? And, I want to work in the PICU right after graduation. I know that some nurses stick with the idea that you have to have a years worth of Med/Surg experience before you can successfully transition into an ICU setting. I personally don't believe that and want to know if that is a requirement for getting an ICU job in Nashville. Thanks!!!

Specializes in Emergency Dept, ICU.

I was started at 25.00/hr w/ 3.00 hr nights diff w/ 2 yrs experience except they offered like 20.65

Where do you work that started at 25.00/hr?

25.00 is about the norm starting salary for new grads. No a year in med surg is not required but experience will be hired 1st.Best way to get into an ICU right out of school is to contact hospitals of interest and ask about their nurse intern programs. These programs will give you the support and resources you need while you are learning to work in your area of preference.Good Luck

I have been an LPN for 10+ years and just graduated in Dec as RN, where I am currently working gave me a quote of less than that an hour, that is why I was asking. I am working PRN which is more per hour anyway...thanks for the info

I was wondering if you know if you have to have a years experience in m/s before going into L&D? Also, do most hospitals take BSN grads before ASN?
