U.S.A. Maryland

has anyone come from another state to maryland and gotten a temp permit while they waited for their MD lisc to be active from their original state? If so is it better to hand carry it to the BON office and do it in person? Which is the quickest way?

Thanks:D

I have seen a temp license listed on the BONs website but don't know anyone that has one. IMO with them its always better to sit right there with papers in hand until someone can help you. Good luck.

my employer didn't mention a temp permit. She just said i can start working before passing my boards. The only difference is that the pay is very different. They'll pay me the regular rate once i pass the boards. Although i think she mentioned i had 45days to take the boards.

I don't think MD has a temp permit like PA and even here in philly, i have friends who started working the monday after graduation for the $26.xx GN rate at a hosptial i know. They don't have the permit and they hospital actually provides free kaplan courses for their GNs. They'll only get a $1 raise when they pass the boards. I think some hospitals are pretty strict with the person having a GN and others don't mind.

im sorry whats GN?

GN = graduate nurse.

GN = graduate nurse.

thank you

There is no GN temporary permit in Maryland. Most hospitals make you wait until you pass NCLEX and get the RN license to work on the floor.
