Tell me what you think of this (be honest )

Hello,

I rec'd a letter regarding the LPN program at a tech school where i had tested, I missed the interview appt. beacuse my Mom passed away : (

I called and explained to the interviewer and she squeezed me in last minute. The letter said that the 34 applicants they had selected had scored higher than me so I am on the "waiting list". if an opening becomes avail. they will contact me.

well, I was too curious to know what realistically the odds are someone would opt to not go, and I called the dept. head and asked that very question, she said that the odds are good, and without me repeating my name she stated that I am very near the top of the list. The applicants who earned the seats have until June 1 to respond or they lose the chance and the wait list is tapped into.

what do you think??

also..

for those of you with pre school/ toddler age kiddies, what are your plans for them while you attend school?

this program is full time days. I have a 3 1/2 yr old who did not get chosen for our prechool program (its lottery based)

funny...... we both got letters saying we were on waiting lists!!! too funny

thanks in advace for any replies, Monica

There's always one or two, to several people whose lives have changed since they got on the list and can't make it. So odds are that someone is going to get in that's on the waiting list, and since you are so high, don't give up hope.

In my class a women fresh from high school that was on the waiting list, got in the day before school started.

Good luck.

Can't help you with childcare issues though. :)

I would agree some people at this time feel it isn't the time to go through with nursing, especially if you have children because i know that makes it even harder....So try not to worry so much there is still hope. I will cross my fingers for you I start the lpn program in september... I have a 2 year old and a 4 year old but luckily they will get to be with there day from 8-3. Hopefully you can get him into another daycare.....

Good Luck keep me posted ;)

If you don't get your childcare lined up, for sure you'll get in!! I'd get it set up anyway! And always have a "plan B", too, in case something falls thru one day. I actually had to go to plan C once or twice when my son was little.

I have been perusing this board since '03, and every time I saw your picture you remins me of this nicu nurse my baby had in the hospital, he was born in '00 with an undetected chd that ultimately took his 12 day old life. Margaret I believe was her name, "angel" to me, she thought nothing of unhooking all the lines from him so that I could hold him. I will forever be in debt to her. You look alot like her, so whenever I see your posts I have good memories. so thankyou .

Speaking for your baby's nurse, I'm sure she would say, "you're welcome. It was an honor to help care for your family @ such a difficult time".

Take care, ok?

honestly, i've heard of many people who were on waiting lists getting in, so i think you have a good chance! good luck!!! :)

What the person you spoke to said sounds very encouraging. Obviously, she can't make any promises that may come back to bite her, but I would think your chances are good based on that conversation. Make sure you are prepared, so if the good news comes you're ready.

Sorry about your mom. :crying2:
