Tell me why you regret about becoming a Nurse

If you could do it again, what career would you choose to pursue instead of Nursing? What are your reasons?

The one thing that I regret about being a nurse is the fact that I have to work part of my weekend and every weekend. I can never take the weekend off. I also am more tired on the weekends because I am not resting like I should do to working every Saturday; so I guess whenever I can take a nap that will be my resting time.

I am a Type-A perfectionist and will always to to do my very best in whatever I'm attempting. However, one's very best means absolute jack [deleted] now that nursing is nothing more than a customer service/hospitality field. It doesn't matter how many "customers" have said how much they love you/your care...all that matters is that confused one that points her finger and starts the witch hunt. Even when the allegations are unfounded and the investigation turns up absolutely nothing, a big fat ZERO in any proof that anything untoward happened, that's all it takes for people to start looking at you askance and for you to feel like you're walking on eggshells (for example, afraid of disciplining aides because then they have threatened to turn around and make up more allegations about you because "well, who is going to take your word now against ours?"; patients complaining because their preferred soda brand wasn't available [poor customer service...should've bought them a bottle out of my own money from the vending machine], someone ends up with a fall/skin tear because they got out of bed without assistance and were a fall risk, etc, but you can't alarm them because "it's a restraint").

I'm trying a new job in nursing. If that doesn't work, I don't know what I'll do. At this point, becoming a real estate agent is looking awfully tempting...or even just a barista!
