I work in a hospital-based call center with about 15 RN's and 6 clerical people. Our nurse manager's job has been changed and today we were told that from now on we answer to the "Operations Manager" - who is not a nurse and as far as we know, doesn't even had a degree. She will be doing our evaluations.

Isn't there something wrong with this? Isn't there some sort of guideline that recommends nurses be supervised by a nurse.?

Absolutely, a non registered nurse can not supervise or evaluate a registered nurse. This is a plain violation of the Nurse Practice Act.

You need to inform management that they will be in violation, if they insist on a non registered nurse supervising/evaluating you. If they do not provide a RN supervisor to you, then report your facility to your state nursing board.

Interested to know what the concences was. Have worked in telephone triage for years and am concerned with recent developments too.

Nurse practice act states that you need at least an RM to supervise you.

Really you have to have a RN supervise you? I worked for years in telephone triage and my boss was not a nurse. Later a few years ago they did hire a nurse to supervise us. She did not make clinical decisions she relied on her senior nurses for this.
