Also, do the telphone triage nurses in your hospital base center make the same salary as the floor nurses? This would also help me to know. Thanks.

Your starting range seems low. The suggestion for minimum experience of triage nurse should be somewhere around (or more) 5yrs, with the average years of experience probaly more than 10 years. No nurse with 10 years of experience should be making $11 an hour.Starting range should be at least $17/hr (and thats low to me)For a hospital based call center, I found the range to be a little less than hospital staff nurses. The range of pay at my call center is higher. It is a ambulatory base call center. However, for the amount of experience that is required it is reasonable. Look at the range of pay for the hospital floor nurses and the amount of responsibiliy. Go to Web site of Shiela Wheeler, www.TeleTriageSystems and request information on Job requirments for telephone triage nurses. Also check with Carol Rutenberg at www.telephone-triage.com GOOD LUCK QUOTE]Originally posted by DA:

A year ago at Kaiser hospital in Sacramento, I interviewed there for telephone triage RN. I also had 3 friends working there. Their maximum that they were allowed to pay new hires was $24. per hour, as long as the new hire had several years of experience as an acute care nurse. It was such a big pay cut, I didn't take it. (Also became disinterested because friends said they are so inflexible with scheduling, and all new people have to do Fri, Sat, and Sundays for several years. My friends have already quit that job.)

Regarding salary- I have been a telephone advice nurse for 2 years- my current salary is high 50's/yr. Benefits are over and above any benefits I ever recieved working in a hospital and the work is easy. It is a boring job but I get to play on the internet between calls!:D

I have recently take a Telephone Triage position with an insurance company, after 7 years of Critical care/ER. I am really enjoying this job. I started at $23.00/hr.

Hi BCG from fellow southerner (BAMA here)-

What hours do you work if you don't mind my asking?

Thanks!

I work TT at a Childrens Hospital but only doing calls from contracted private physicians patients. I work a "modified baylor" shift which is: 12 hour shift every Sat and Sun from 5p-5a making approx $22.00 bucks an hour. This additionally was a "work 24 get paid 36" option which basically meant making time and a half for each hour worked. Now, they have dropped us to a "bonus salary" for each weekend which is 210.00 bucks extra. This averages out to be only $17.50 an hour, but keep in mind I'm getting an additional 410.00 bucks a paycheck above the 24 hours I actually work. This is basically full time pay for partime hours. Not bad.....and it keeps me home all through the week with my 3 young children.
