If a facility ever made me an offer based only upon a telephone interview, I would run like the wind away from them. That would imply a sort of desperation that signals some type of unfortunate situation in that facility or unit.
A telephone interview is simply a first step - a weeding out process while deciding who to interview. My question is, why didn't they call you? Why did you have to call them?

I was wondering the exact same thing! When I called they apologized for not getting in touch, they had thought they got ahold me. Miscommunication I suppose! But it made me wonder, if they wanted me wouldn't they make sure they got ahold of me!?
They aren't gonna want you so badly that they chase you/hunt you down for a face-to-face interview. If they hunted me down, that would scare me just as much as getting hired based solely on a phone interview! As a job applicant it is YOUR job to follow up with them if you haven't heard back about a second interview request. It is always good to follow up anyways, as it lets them know you are truly interested in a job at their facility/on their unit. I would send a thank-you card to the person who interviewed you, and also follow up by phone if you don't hear from them in a timely manner.
Good luck!

I would be very wary of that as well. In my current job, my interview process was this.
1) Phone interview with HR
2) Phone interview with hiring manager about three days later
3) In-person interview with hiring manager and assistant unit manager about a week after that
The in-person one was primarily just a tour of the unit and more elaboration on what we talked about over the phone. She basically just wanted to make sure I was the same person in person as over the phone, which makes sense, considering for all she knew, over the phone I could have had my best friend interview for me, or I could have had bright purple hair with a face tattoo, and a cigarette in my mouth.

So I am a new graduate, and haven't acquired a job yet. Recently I had an interview with a hospital, it was a telephone interview.
They hadn't gotten back to me, so I called and they said they wanted to talk to me in person.
My question is this;
If they really liked me, wouldn't they just hire me based on the phone interview? Or is an in person interview a formality?
I am pretty new at this process! Any help, tips, or input would be greatly appreciated!
