Teas V scores and acceptance

Published

Hi, I took the TEAS V in August and my school only requires a score of 60...which I made a 67.3. My GPA is 3.9 and I am really nervous that it won't be enough to get me in. This is only the second year my school has had the ADN program but it is becoming popular really fast so I don't know how many students I am competing with. They are only taking 30 students. I feel like I am going to crack. We will not hear anything until next month. Has anyone else been accepted into their program with a TEAS score similiar to mine? I want to ask my nursing adviser what my chances are but I am too scared. I don't want to seem desperate. Any advice?

what school are you applying to? I am applying to GPC and I got 76% for TEA V. I dont know how they interpret the score because it is so confusing. Any help is appreciated.

GPC requires that you score either Proficient,Advanced or Exemplary for consideration. Above your score, it tells you what you scored. I believe a 76% would be proficient. Good Luck!!

Quite a few folks I know scored Proficient and were accepted. But they also had strong GPAs.

Thank you for your reply. I got proficient score, but I dont know if they look at the Adjusted Individual Score only or every single section. I know some schools require individual section ( reading, math, science, and English) must be higher than the Mean National. Is it true to GPC? Also, my current GPA is 3.6

Honestly I'm not sure how they break things down. I was just told that your scores need to fall in the range of Proficient to Exemplary. I don't know if and how they break things down after that. What I have been told, not sure if this is true though, because it did not come from an advisor - is that more weight is put on your GPA and track record as a student. If you have a number of Ws,repeated courses then it tends to count against you and they really look at your A&P grade more than anything else. Again, this is just talk around school. I have no idea if any of this is true or not. Although I think there tends to be some truth to it. Folks that I know that were not accepted got Cs in A&P or failed it and then took it again. Even with a B with the retake, they did not get in. But like I said, this is just talk around school. I may be totally wrong.

Good luck! Are you applying for fall? They take more people in fall so your chances are better then. They only take 60 for Spring. More than twice that for fall.

Yes, I am applying for fall. It is so sad that they dont even put a look on C's on A&P !!!They also eliminate the retakers !!!! This hurts me :(

Like I said, I did not hear that from an advisor so I really don't know if this true or not. I don't think they eliminate retakers as a rule, but it might count against you when you are being compared to another student that got the A or B the first time around. I also think that admission for Spring might be a little stricter since there are fewer slots available for Spring. Things may not be that strict for Fall. And again, this is just talk around school.

I am attending Louisiana Delta Community College and they go by a points system. My TEAS score says proficient so I guess that is good. The points are based on your gpa-40 points max and TEAS score-50 points max, and a few for other small things like being an LPN already. Last semester was my first and I took 16 credits knocking out more than half of my prereqs. I passed all with A's and I haven't had to retake anything. This semester I am finishing up the rest of my prereqs so I will be done and ready for the spring. That is the only time students are accepted into the program. Our requirements seem really low compared to alot of the other programs mentioned on this site, so I am hoping that my TEAS score won't be negative against me.

Oh, btw does anyone know the difference between TEAS V Form A and Form B? I have talked to other students at my school and form B seems to be harder. Also, I was reading my results page again and it said on there that when they calculate your individual score they adjust for "form difficulty", so does this mean one form was harder than the other? And if so how is that fair?

I think my overall score is worthy of acceptance....it's considered "Advanced"...but my reading is only an 81%...

I am really stressing this will affect me negatively.

i am just really going to go crazy waiting.

What are the requirements for your school? It sounds like your chances are really good. Like I said my school requirements are really low so it just depends on what score minimum thet are looking for. Good luck!! We should be getting our letters sometime mid-october. I understand how you feel about the wait. It is very stressful!!!

I spoke w the proctor of the test and he said last semester people w 60's (probably high 60's) got letters but the avg scores were 71%....but talk around school is making me crazy~hearing people with scores in the mid to high 70's thinking they're not getting in! My hopes go up and down on a daily basis...can't stop thinking about it...GEEZ its gonna be the longest month EVAR! :uhoh3:
