I took the teas v exam on monday the 22nd. I didn't do well on the reading and english portion. If there is any advice that I could get on how to study or prepare for those two parts, I would greatly appreciate it. I am taking it again Feb 25th.
Thanks so much!

For the reading section, I would say to really pay attention to what they are asking. If you have the ATI book, go through the reading and english sections, they helped me a lot. Good luck!!

The trickiest thing with both these sections is that sometimes two answers make sense. Always try to rule out the answer that you think is right. I found that doing that helped my score between practice tests. I would pick the first answer that made sense, and that doesn't work because while it might be an ok answer, there could be a better answer you aren't considering. Give all the answers a shot. Especially on identifying main points, several answers might work, but one makes the most sense. Put some extra thought into those. For vocabulary, think of words you know that are similar and an answer will jump out at you.
Thanks a lot for all your input. I will do that with they practice tests i have found online and in the McGraw Hill book.

Hey!
I took the TEAS V in October and I miserably failed the english and reading section too. I was surprised because I am really good with reading and grammar usually. So I did a lot of research and I got a book called 5 teas practice test by mcgrawhill. It has 5 practice tests which are VERY similar to the actual teas exam. I think you should order this book because its been helping me a lot.
here is the link:
http://www.amazon.com/McGraw-Hills-TEAS-Practice-Tests-ebook/dp/B006GMVHDU
Sorry the link above ^ is for the kindle edition, but you can get the book itself too
and the tests in this book are different then the tests in the Mcgraw hill nursing school entrance exam book. The tests in the book I am refering too are much more similar to the TEAS then the other mcgraw hill book.
Ok, I saw that book online and will get that one instead. Thank you so much.
If you haven't already taken the exam, Good Luck!
Fingers crossed

If there is any advice that I could get on how to study or prepare for those two parts, I would greatly appreciate it. I am taking it again Feb 25th.I took the TEAS V yesterday and got an 85%. That test is flipping hard! 85% fell in the 96th percentile and 65% was the national average as of yesterday! Crazy in my opinion. Last semester was my first time back in college since 2005 so I didnt want to risk not doing well and not getting into the program. So I invested in a good study guide... I would highly recommend the study guide from the ATI website. I think it was like $55 or so, but well worth it! I studied off and on for a month, but hit it hard about a week and half before the test. There was not a question on the test that wasnt in the book or on the 2 practice tests in the guide. That would be my advice...Oh, also slow down as you read the test. What I did was go throught and read and answered each question but if I wasnt 100% sure about the answer I wrote the question number down on scratch paper. I put a star by the ones I REALLY wasnt sure about on my list. Then once finished I went back and revisited them before I clicked submit. Good luck!

I took the test yesterday... and passed! I agree that the ATI book is VERY close to the test! If you're going to buy a study guide, it makes sense to buy it from the company that wrote the test for sure. Especially the science. I cant remember even one question that want adressed in the ATI guide.
