hi
i am taking the teas test feb.25, 2008 at ivy tech.
does anyone have any advice for me?
~thanks~
Hello,
I just took my Teas test today and I was very nervous last night. But after taking the test i was relieved that it was very easy. My advice to you guys is just relax, it's not bad at all.
Reading: common sense, reading drug labels and following directions
Math: was very easy for me b/c i was allowed to use calculator, but if your school doesn't than practice and time your self.
fractions(addition, subtraction, multiplication), ratios, proportions, mean, medium, mode, Metrics Conversion( LBS : Ounce, L: ml, cm : inch, kg: lbs), just little geometry and algebra.
Science: very unexpected there is no way to prepare yourself. But here are few things you can look up
Scientific method, independent variable, conclusion, control data, RBC, conversion of F to C, Types of rock( igneous, sedmentary, metamorphic), How clouds are form, def of photosynthesis, hydration, phloem and Xylem, atomic mass, covalent bonding, proton, neuron, electron, make sure your understand newton's law, velocity, acceleration. There is no way to be ready for physics question.
English: Again common sense, very basic verbal definition.
For practice purpose and to find out how test looks like purchase Teas test online from ATI website. Test layout is very similar and you will also get idea what to study for science portion.
There are no breaks in between the test so carry water bottle b/c there is no time to eat, just relax and you will do fine.
Good Luck !!!!!!
I'm taking the teas test in the beginning of June, I'm so nervous, b/c I can't take any notes to help me remember, especially math. As everybody, I don't like to fail, I bought the ATI study guide and the mo-metrix teas study guide, any suggestions on how to remember the sections. I'm just a nervous wreck!
the best way to study for the math section is to work through all of the exercises in the study guides and extra ones from the internet. practice with decimals/fractions/percentages! write down a few formulas on an index card (slope-intercept formula, english/metric conversions, etc.)-- memorize and apply them to several problems. doing so will definitely increase your efficiency on the math section!
the science section covers a large variety of themes, so the best way is to go over major laws and concepts. learn basic physics formulas, earth science concepts (like types of rocks, food webs), practice chemical equations, and work with punnett squares.
reading/grammar sections are pretty easy, just make sure to double check your answers for silly mistakes.
you have a lot of time to prepare for it, so try not to be too nervous! :)

My school said they switched to version V on January 1st. I don't know if all the schools are the same or not but you might want to call the testing center you are testing at. I have a feeling that all of the schools are going to change over to version V.
