hi
i am taking the teas test feb.25, 2008 at ivy tech.
does anyone have any advice for me?
~thanks~
What school are you guys attending if I may ask? Also, to kuccellini, if you have no problem with reading and english, then yes, I would study math and science (well at least focus on it more). I would still brush up on english and reading because careless mistakes can be made. The reading is pretty elementary though. To TamiLee, normally it is not ever too early to take it. The scores are good forever at some colleges. There is no expiration for Delgado/Charity School of Nursing. And to SMC6787, there are word problems in the math section. There are also alot of ratio and proportion, graphs, charts, and metric conversions. Good luck to you all.
thanks Rynique! so how was the test? by the way i'm taking this test for long island college hospital. i don't know much about this test..but from what you told me about the math, that seems hard esp since math is not my cup of tea. do u know what a good score for this test is? so this test has math, reading, what kind of sciences? and anything else? does the ATI study guide really help? sorry for all the questions! just need some help =)
The test covers math: percentages, proportion, word problems, geometry, mean, median, fractions, coverting to metric...Reading comprehension: main idea, tone, details, inferences, subject matter, Grammar and Spelling, and science: basics of chemistry, physics, earth science, general science, anatomy.
I have the study guide. I did the reading comprehension self test and got a 90% without studying. I was a journalism major in college, so I don't think the english/grammar section will be hard. Math will be my downfall.
I have heard that the study guide was helpful to those who though the actual test was very similar, or not helpful at all. I also bought the Kaplan Nursing School Entrance Exam book, 3rd edition, for extra practice.
Now I just have to get motivated to study!

The test may and may not cover some of those things. Especially the math and the science. It is better to know it all because it can cover it. Because the test can only have like 45 to this section or 30 to that, something may get omitted. A few that has taken the test will agree. You will be sitting there like, "Man, I thought it would have this on here, or more of this or less of this." So, something you study for may not even be on it. Just keep that in mind. I went in with some people who studied from 3 different sources and failed. But overall, if math is your weakness, study for all things listed as you never know what will be asked. You can do it! And I hope you do. We need more nurses. Good luck to you!

The test wasn't so hard as it was nerve shaking. It was not extreme. My school requires a composite score of 70% and I made way above that, so a good score depends on what your college is asking as a minimum score. You can do it. No, math was pretty decent. The test can only pull so many questions from certain areas, so some things may be omitted or limited. The test I took definitely had many ratio /proportions and fractions and percentages. It had about 5 metric conversions, only 1 or 2 algebraic equations, about 3 mean/median and maybe 2 decimals. So basically on my test, out of 45 questions in math, about 22-30 were ratio/proportion and fractions. Science is broad. It is all over the place. But general science, scientific method, and chemistry was on there. Physical science was on there and anatomy/physiology only asked 1 or 2 questions. The ATI was very helpful. I just find that the science section does not greatly have an effect.
Hi everyone! Whoever already took the test: do you guys remember ? about wheelchair and what should be done to make incline easier? How do you answered? I chose - "increase length of a slope" and that is the right answer.
There was very simple ? on chemistry, but if you don't know what will happen when you add 1 neutron to an ellement (any element) then you will defenetely loose 1/30 points on a science. - ATOMIC MASS WILL CHANGE
oh, don't forget that after a meal - PARASYMPATHETIC SISTEM is activated
and repeat how ACTIVE TRANSPORT works (in plant)
Hope it helps. Good luck to everyone!
hi sacstate2010 i was just wondering what did you answer to this question that was posted on the other forum?
"Hi sacstate, seems like we had the same test. I will have to retake it again. Had an 86.2% on the real thing. I thought the book helped quite a bit for the maths and eng. The science is a different story--it's all over the place. Though, the online practice was close. Got questions for the science part. How did you manage with the translation for the mRNA code, Genetic q was kind of weird, with the punnet sq & answer choices, the book didn't have anything like those types of q for practice. The experiment with 50ml in 3 different materials, how did you answer that? How about the bk on the table? The q on the wheelchair was tricky. Thought it was about friction, will you increase or decrease friction. Will you increase distance/length or increase distance? How about the wave q. Never had a physics class. Do you think energy or force is related? Got more q's. Please send me a pm. Could really use some help! Thanks"
i'm taking my teas tom. i just need some help about it. thankss a lot

I am considering taking the test myself soon. Haven't decided when yet. I plan to start applying for the fall of 2011. How early is too early to take the test?
I already have an AA in general studies, but its been a while for me since I have taken any math or science classes. You all know that if you dont use it or practice it regularly, it all disappears.
Anyways, advice would be great.
Thanks!
