Hi all, I took the TEAS exam today for entry into Tarrant County College TX ADN program and although it wasn’t very difficult it was difficult. The science section was nothing like what the TEAS book reviews, and the time for the math is way too small.
Does anyone know how selections are made based on the TEAS scores?
Do they rely on the overall individual score or on the individual score for each subject?
Does the individual percentile compared to the program and national percentile has any meaning? (I hope this last one does.)
These are my scores to be precise.
Adjusted Individual total score 77.1%
Mean National 74.1%
Mean Program 75.2%
Percentile Rank National 57
Percentile Rank Program 55
Reading
Individual 80%
National 86.4%
Program 87.7%
Math
Individual 75.6%
National 63.7%
Program 64.6%
Science
National 66.9%
Program 67.9%
English
Individual 74.5%
National 77.8%
Program 78.8%
Is there anyone out here with answers? Thanks:up:

At my school you go by the overall individual percent (if you passed each individual area). I got a 91.2 and the school considers it a 91. Anything .5 or higher gets rounded up. (Like a 91.6 would be considered a 92)
Thanks for responding JACKSON, actually I just spoke to my school(TCC) and got some good news. Science and math carries the most weight, and I seem to be in good shape as my percentile for science was 87 in the program and 84 in the nation, that for math was 74 for both program and nation.
I gave my results sheet to a friend who is already in the program to help interpret it for me and looking at my level and that of my competitors in the program, I seem to be within the top 30% in math and the top 13% in science. English which happens to be a second language to me screwed me up. I guess I will have wait and see what happens in December. I have an overall GPA of 4.0 and many ppl have told me I stand a very good chance, so I am keeping my fingers crossed if not, I will continue prereqs. for a 4yr degree school.
I just hope for the best and hey well done you really did well.
With that GPA you oughta be fine! Science was my lowest area (did better on 2nd try though).
i hope so jackson145, i am so nervous, it's even worse than the pain i went thru having c' sections for all my 3 children. being a student in ur late 30's is no joke, i could do with less stress over school.

did you finish the math? I wish I had read about not enough time for the Math. I would have sped thru more. I saw tons of people finishing early and I didn't get it until I found out that some people had taken the EXACT same test one week before. Then I saw people who sat in the back going back and finishing other sections once English was completed. That makes me mad.
To top it off, I had taken a pain killer for a week old accident I had and couldn't concentrate for nothing!
The math section took me the longest, but the science was my lowest score. I've taken it twice (about 6 months apart) and had virtually the same test. On my second try, my science went up quite a bit. I think the 'chemical basis of life' in my ANP class helped with the chemical science questions. I just wish I knew what other people at my school have scored. They say high 80/low 90 gets you in, but with only 20 spots, if several students have mid-90's I'm in trouble (91.2).

actually blkglwithwings, i did finish the math but my downfall was the english which honestly wasn't bad but comparatively was bad. in my school science and math carries the most score with ur gpa so i am really keeping my fingers crossed.

jackson145, i had wanted to retake the exam, but from what i hear, it's not always advisable plus if u get a lower mark, they will use that instead of the higher mark. my school encourages students not to take it a second time within an application, i guess they do that so many ppl don't retake and pass it. by the way, with a 170 questions, i had forgotten all the questions by the time i came out of the exam room, so a retake will surely not have been a benefit hahaahah.
i am hoping for the best and wish u all luck. :trout:
