The Adkins Academy

Nursing Students TEAS

Published

Hey everyone, I recently completed the Adkins Academy and I was wondering have anyone else( recently) completed the academy? I have not taken my exam yet although I plan to within the next three days. The tuition for this academy is 1,000 dollars, I've read reviews on it but I'm making this post to see if anyone has taken it recently and how did they score.

$1,000 for a test prep course? In my opinion, you've been had. A hint: anything where the website doesn't end in .edu is not a school.

Hi, and thanks for your response. There are people who have went through the Adkins Academy. There are threads on here were other members have talked about the Adkins Academy, my post is just more recent. Also, I've communicated with people on Social Media that has been through this academy. The thing is every thread and person I've talked to, went through the academy a year or two ago. I made this thread to see If there is anyone who has completed the academy recently!

I was looking into the Adkins Academy but for $1,000?! No thank you! I'll have my mom tutor me in the sciences & my MIL tutor me in math. I can't imagine spending $1,000!

Hello...yes I have taken a portion of the online classes. I'm am taking the teas later this month. Do you feel prepared ?what study material did you use other than ati manual?

Hey I completed his course and was totally disappointed !!!! On a scale 1 through 10 I say maybe 4 percent was covered on the exam. He gives way to much unnecessary information then what was on my actual exam. I cried my eyes out. I think I'm going to go back to thee course again. But for one thousand dollars... It was NOT worth what he did. I failed my exam. I'll keep you posted though. Thank y'all so much for responding!!!

WOW. I'm so sorry that you had to go through that. I actually looked at the academy and really considered taking the course but money got tight and I decided not to take it. That's really disappointing to hear because he guarantees that you will pass with a high score.

Thank you for having the courage to come back and post your results. Now other people can make informed decisions. When I was doing my research, I didn't find too many people who had taken it recently.

So I took the course this past spring of 2018. I am 27 years old and already have a bachelors degree. I decided that I wanted to go to nursing school and was looking for a good prep program. I would like to emphasize the word prep- because the program is to be used as a large study guide that prepares you.

I took the TEAS 6 prep course in March of 2018 so that I would be able to apply to school and start in August.

I am now starting nursing school in 3 days.

From someone who has gone through a lot of schooling and has had lots of experience, I loved Dr. Adkins prep. It taught me most importantly how to take the exam ( due to the fact that the timed portions are difficult). If you are expecting to have someone give you the questions and answers to the exam that is not legal. Each day that we had class with Dr. Adkins I reviewed and studied on my own, and took practice tests. Having been out of the loop for a long time in terms of testing I wanted to make sure I got off on the right foot and was able to be ready for a test like this. Not only is Dr. Adkins very knowledgeable, he also puts a lot of time and effort into the classes. He literally gives you the skeleton of everything that you need to know. BUT YOU HAVE TO STUDY ON YOUR OWN AND BUILD ON THAT. That is how prep courses work, not to mention nursing school is twice as hard as a prep course would be. Besides what the professor tells you, you have to study on your own. Plain as that.

Most of the test is critical application which Dr. Adkins teaches you how to do. As well as techniques on how to save time answering questions especially in the reading section which is very long. All in all, this course is a tool for your success and there are no short cuts. This tool is only as useful as the effort you put in. Same for nursing school... I have 6 classes this semester and clinicals every week. I am in an accelerated 16 month Bsn program that will be no joke. If you are not prepared to study for the teas exam and take it seriously, you shouldn't be going into the nursing field. Anyone that is " bashing"

this course or any other for that matter all I have to say is - don't blame anyone else for your short comings besides yourself when you had the tools to be great.

I am very thankful for Dr. Adkins course. It was very thought out and very legitimate. He does an amazing job of answering everyone's questions and making sure you have what you need to further more study and do well

on the TEAS. I would recommend his prep to anyone and it is definitely worth the money.

I have worked with students who purchased the Adkins Academy program for $1,000, and to date, none of them passed. There are so many free resources on the internet (Khan Academy | Free Online Courses, Lessons & Practice, bozemanscience, etc.)

I recently completed Adkins Academy, October 2018, and happy to say I passed on my first try-computer version. Prior to signing up with Adkins Academy I had gone to another TEAS tutoring center that cost me $499 plus $55 for ATI book. After I completed the course at the tutoring center I paid $78 for two ATI assessment tests and failed both tests. Not only did I fail in my overall score but I failed in most of the individual sections as well. At this point I'm thinking to my-self I have paid over $600 and I'm still failing. When I saw these embarrassing scores I knew I was in trouble. Feeling desperate and slowly loosing my self-confidence I starting googling TEAS 6 review centers' and I came across Adkins Academy. I explained to Dr. Adkins how I'm at a deadline and I only have 2.5 weeks to pass this test or else I will miss my application deadline. I told him my experience at the tutoring center and how I failed both ATI assessment tests. He told me that in 2.5 weeks he can guarantee me I will pass the test. He told me how he will do everything on his end for me to pass but at the same time I have my end that I need to do as well. He told me if I stick with the program and really truly study his packets I will pass the test. He also told me about his credentials, experience, education, and teaching background. I did everything he told me to do and I'm happy and proud to say I passed on my first try.

Yes, $1000 dollars is a lot of money but you can't just have a tunnel vision and only look at the amount. You have to look at it as an INVESTMENT towards your future. In the long run it will pay off. Also, the other center I wen't too does have ".edu" but when I took the assessment test I failed. When I finished my actual TEAS 6 test all I kept saying to myself was, "thank God I found Adkins Academy!" because if I had taken the test with the school that had ".edu" next to its name I would of failed. EVERYTHING Dr. Adkins said would be on the test, WAS on the test.

In 2.5 weeks these are some of the major changes: Science score went up 23 percent, English went up 14 percent, Reading 18 percent, and Math 11 percent. I started the program September 23,2018 and took the exam on October 9, 2018.

Hope this helps!

I sat for the TEAS exam in January of 2019 and achieved a passing score! It was my first time taking this exam and I attribute part of my success to the Adkins academy. Dr. Adkins repeatedly made time to help me, one on one, with the material that I was struggling with. He also provided insight on how to approach the exam. Additional, I was able to succeed because I studied. I dedicated the majority of my free time to "hitting the books." I believe that whatever you put into a situation is what you will get out of it. I'm thankful that I decided to make this investment in my future. It was a lot of money but in my opinion it was worth it.

I started the program in late December and completed it in the second week of January. Then I studied for 2 more weeks before taking the exam in the last week of January.

Hope this helps and good luck!

I took The Adkins Academy course for the TEAS test and couldn't have been happier! It was intense but very detailed in all subjects that were covered on the TEAS. It was worth every penny to get an Advanced score! You will still need to review concepts you do not understand, however everything is laid out for you- how to figure it out, solve, & why an answer is. The questions we went over were so helpful and I used them to review/study on my own again before the exam. Plus Dr. Adkins is very quick in responding to emails and phone calls to help with whatever questions you have!
