So relieved - TEAS passed!

Just got home from taking the TEAS, and I am so beyond relieved. I got a 90.7%, which is 99th percentile and "exemplary" according to my score report. I was so nervous going in, so I almost cried when my score popped up on the screen at the end.

I will say the science threw me for a loop. Even with all the studying I did, I still felt as though I guessed on a number of the science questions. More chemistry than I expected, but not the kind of chem questions I studied... if that makes sense. (I got an 83.7 on the science).

The other sections were just as predicted, no surprises there (88 on reading, 100 on math, and 94 on English).

I studied everything I could find: used the TEAS study book, bought practice test A on the ATI website, and also bought the TEAS Secrets e-book from online.

Anyways, I appreciated reading all of your experiences leading up to my test, so I thought I'd share my own as well. Good luck to everyone taking it soon!

Congratulations on your great score! That is very exciting that you did so well, and now hopefully you will have a chance to breathe a bit! I am taking the teas in February, and have started studing the ATI guide.

I finished my BA in 2003, in liberal arts... not science whatsoever. It had been since 1999 that I had even taken Biology! So I had to do all of my nursing prereqs... I started in fall 2010, and did Microbiology, A&P 1 and Chem all in Spring 2011, then did A&P 2 in summer 2011. After that class finished in August, I started studying for the TEAS, but not super hard core. I wish I had taken it right after I finished the courses, but I didn't, so I had a ton to review.

In November I really started studying hard core. Went through the ATI book, read each section, answered each question. Took practice test 1, then noted my weak areas, went back and reviewed them again, then took practice test 2. DId the same thing- reviewed weak areas, then took another practice test (the online test A), then bought the other online study guide and practice test... then went back and did the ATI book ones again.

Seems like a lot, but really for me repetition was the key. I needed to keep taking the practice tests to see how my score was changing, and what areas I was still lacking.

So really, just go through the book, and practice, practice, practice. Over and over and over again!

I was just getting on here because I needed to "brag" to someone lol. Weird, I got exactly the same score as you did Nikki, 90.7% - I even matched the 100 on math although my other scores differed a little. (I still think I should have been a math major....too late for that though, I should have done it right out of high school if I was going to.)

I was sooo nervous going into it and felt like I hadn't prepared enough (studied a little here or there for the past month or so, then a few hours this week), but I was only worried about the science (I haven't had micro or A&P yet). When I was viewing my results, I started getting a little shaky I was so nervous lol.

My advice to anyone taking the TEAS V soon: take it seriously, get the ATI book and go through the practice tests and identify your weak areas. Some of it, you need a lot of background that needs to be either already known, or learned over time.

Now all I have to do is sit back and wait for my acceptance letter which will come around spring break time :)

Woohoo! Brag away Melissa!! :) So funny that we got the same scores, and both 100 in the math. You should be extra amazed with yourself for doing so great without having done all your sciences yet- thats great!!

I'm guessing we should both be on here sharing very good news in March... hopefully 99th percentile is good enough, huh?

Yeah you would think 99th percentile would be good enough :) I am totally amazed, I can't believe how worried I was about the test (because I KNOW people who have failed it), it's suuuuch a relief, as I'm sure you can appreciate!

I don't post often, but I do read the boards here often, this is a great source of information and I think I'll be here much more frequently after I actually start the nursing program in August. I hear it's pretty stressful, but we'll see.
