Hi,

Does anyone offer the TDAP vaccine at their hospital? If so, do you have th patient sign a consent?

Thanks,

Maggi - do you know of any research that found that giving the TDaP masks more serious underlying infections, and that contributes to an increase in unnecessary interventions? That's what I'd really like to know. Since we should be practicing evidence-based nursing care.

The rubella vaccine is a preprinted order, but the person responsible for validating the MAR also has the responsibility of looking up rubella immune status. Her prenatal lab results, including immune status, are also on the front page of her H&P, so it's not as if one has to go hunting hard to find it. I'm not aware of any time we've given the vaccine to a pt who was already immune.
