TCU Jan 2019/SRNA advice in general

Published

Hi!

I have been rejected from 2 CRNA schools in my area and I am feeling at a loss.

I plan on applying to TCU for Jan 2019 and it will be my top choice since I will be moving to Dallas for my significant other's job.

Those who have been accepted in the past- do you mind posting your stats or letting me know what they really look for?

I will have 2 years CVICU, 1 year ICU float pool, all at level 1 trauma academic medical centers before application, CCRN-CSC, 3.3 GPA (went to a top nursing school that is highly regarded that no one had over a 3.5 in because it is a huge weed out program). I have taken 2 grad courses (Adv patho and Adv pharm)- A's and I am considering taking Biochem to boost my undergrad science GPA.

Currently waiting to hear back from TWU but have not yet.

I have a letter of rec from an anesthesiologist, CRNA, and nurse manager.

Any advice is appreciated.

I got an interview for Aug. 30th! Yay! So excited!!!!

Got my interview, August 28!

My interview is August 30th. Does anyone know how many applicants they interview? I know they only accept 55-65 each year.

Hey everyone! Somehow I stopped getting notifications for this thread. Got my interview email. August 28th! gahhh so excited. Now to find a really nice suit cause ya know look good feel good.;) Congrats to everyone that got an interview and those who didn't just remember there's a reason for everything and you will find your right place.

HOLY COW 312 on the GRE?! Great job Zach!

Congrats everyone who got an interview! I also got one for the 28th. Time to start interview prep :o

Specializes in CRNA.

Congratulations to everyone that go an interview. The only thing I can think of that held me back was my GRE which was a 298 and 3.5. Did anyone get an interview with a GRE near mine?

Hello all! I'm new here and I recently got an email for an interview on September 4! :)

Just seeing if anybody has any insights on what they're going to ask during the interview. I'm excited and nervous at the same time! AHHH!! This is finally happening! Good luck to everyone!

I got a score close to yours: 301 (V 154/Q 147 and AW 3.5). I was feeling unsure if I was going to get an interview since I didn't get the minimum for the Q and AWA.

I don't see the harm in calling the admissions office to ask what you can work on next time you apply. I had a coworker that asked last year and come to find out, it was the personal statement. Just letting you know!

I landed an interview as well! Congrats to those who also did. I hope those of you who didn't have good luck with any other applications you may have sent in!

3.6 GPA

2 years mixed ICU experience (ECMO, LVADS, IABP, Impella, etc)

314 GRE (160 Q, 156 V, 4.5 A)

When I visited the campus they said the interviews were pretty laid back, so I'm hoping that holds true.

Yes, my GRE was close to yours. My other stats are different though: GPA 4.0 science, last 60 hours, and overall GPA. I don't feel like they put a lot of stock in the GRE.

Do you know of anyone else that applied in the Tulsa area? I think they assign 5-6 spots for Tulsa area.

I would retake your GRE and apply next year. Per the website they want a gre >302. What is your years of ICU experience? Don't sweat it man, just reapply and show them this is what you want to do. I recommend magoosh for a study tool.

Get another year of ICU experience, bump up that GRE, and try again. No shame in that game.
