TCU and the GRE??

Okay everyone, I am stressing a bit and have a question for all of you out there. I am 23 years old and I graduated in May 2005 with my BSN. I have a 3.8 and have been working in an adult ICU for 2 years (one as an extern my senior year in nursing school). So, if I get accepted for 2007, I will have a total of three years ICU experience. I am both ACLS and PALS certified and am planning on applying this fall for CRNA school. I just recently took the GRE and only scored a 1010. I didn't really prepare for it and I was very disappointed with this score. I know that it is sufficient for most schools but TCU requires an 1100 and this is the school that I was really wanting to attend. I was also planning on getting my CCRN in August and I wanted to focus my studies on that after I got the GRE out of the way. My question is should I take the GRE again and try to raise my score or would my GPA be sufficient? Does TCU ever overlook the GRE since I only fell a little short of the requirement? Let me know if anyone has any advice!!! I would so appreciate it! Thank you!

Don't sweat it at all!!!! I got accepted to TCU for 06 with a dead even 1000 on my GRE. Never even studied for it (probably foolish on my part).

I was somewhat in your situation, been an RN for about 2 years with a 3.9 GPA and CCRN certification. I would recommend you study for the CCRN exam and just smoke the interview!!!

Good Luck.

Keep in mind you ICU experience is only counted from the time you have been licensed, not from hire date to the hospital as a student. That being said, TCU will bend the rules for the GRE a little if the rest of your application looks stellar. Good luck.

Don't sweat the GRE score. I got an interview and accepted with a 1070 on my GRE. Did the same as others and did not study much for it (taking classes for BSN at the same time), and probably could have done better. Your experience and an excellent essay should get you an interview with them, at least. And take CCRN, they DO require it to even grant you an interview, or so I was told when I called and asked questions about the program. BEST OF LUCK TO YOU!
