  1. Okay everyone, I am stressing a bit and have a question for all of you out there. I am 23 years old and I graduated in May 2005 with my BSN. I have a 3.8 and have been working in an adult ICU for 2 years (one as an extern my senior year in nursing school). So, if I get accepted for 2007, I will have a total of three years ICU experience. I am both ACLS and PALS certified and am planning on applying this fall for CRNA school. I just recently took the GRE and only scored a 1010. I didn't really prepare for it and I was very disappointed with this score. I know that it is sufficient for most schools but TCU requires an 1100 and this is the school that I was really wanting to attend. I was also planning on getting my CCRN in August and I wanted to focus my studies on that after I got the GRE out of the way. My question is should I take the GRE again and try to raise my score or would my GPA be sufficient? Does TCU ever overlook the GRE since I only fell a little short of the requirement? Let me know if anyone has any advice!!! I would so appreciate it! Thank you!
  2. Hi everyone! I need your input...I recently graduated from a BSN program in May of 2005 and have been working in the ICU of a smaller rural hospital for about a year and a half (I was a nurse extern in the unit for a year prior to graduating). It is a wonderful place to work and I am learning alot, but I may be moving out of state in May. I am planning to apply to CRNA school in the fall of 2006 and I was wondering if you all think that switching jobs that fast would look bad. The last thing I want to do is hurt my chances of getting in. I mean I would have a year of RN experience at the hospital I am at now and, if I move, I am hoping to get a job at a larger teaching hospital, but I will have only worked there for about three months when I apply. I guess I am worried about letters of rec., etc. Also, do you think that is enough experience? I feel as though many of the people on this site have 4 or more years of experience under their belt when they apply, and I will have about 1 1/2 and I'll be 23-it makes me a little nervous...Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you :)
  3. Hey everyone! I am graduating with a bachelors degree in nursing in May and am looking into applying to CRNA school in a couple of years. I currently work in an ICU but I am so interested in Labor and Delivery. My question is, after you become a CRNA can you just work in one place such as Labor and Delivery doing epidurals and c-sections or do you have to do a little of everything, like general surgeries, etc? Let me know. Thanks!
  4. DSAC: How much experience do you have??? I'm just wondering since you were accepted at TWU. That is one of the schools that I am looking at!
  5. Yeah, we get a big variety of patients (mech. ventilation, CRRT, IABP, multiple gtts, CABG, etc) I just wanted to make sure that it wouldn't hurt my chances of getting into school later down the road. Thank you all so much!
  6. Hi! I have a quick question for all of you out there. I am graduating with a BSN in May and am currently working as an extern in a 20 bed ICU. They have offered me a job as an RN when I graduate and I absolutely love the people and the hospital. But, I am planning on applying to CRNA school after a year or two. The reason that I am stressing out is because I really want to work at this hospital-but it is a smaller hospital, not a huge teaching hospital. The one thing that I do know is that I have learned so much from working there and I feel that I get to see more than I do at the teaching hospital's ICU because it is not specific (trauma, medical, etc) We get a little of everything. I have great grades and a great GRE so that part shouldn't be a problem I just need some advice on what to do about experience-should I stay with the hospital that I love after graduation or would it be better, for CRNA school, to apply at a bigger, teaching hospital? Please help!!! :)
