Hey All!

Is anyone applying to TCC or Weatherford College for Spring 2010 entry? I am applying to both and just wanted to see if anyone else was doing the same.:wink2:

Good luck to you.

I was in the same place as you in the spring. I applied to both schools as well. I missed getting into Weatherford by 1 point, but I got into TCC and start in just 25 days ( not like I am counting down or anything :) )

Yeah!! That is awesome!! I am hoping to get into TCC but am trying to both just in case.:) Good luck to you! How many points did you have at Weatherford?

I had 22 points and the people with 23 points and up were getting in at Weatherford this spring. I was the same way TCC was closer for me but wanted to apply to a couple places to better my chance.

Thanks

I am applying to Weatherford, I currently attend TCC. I will not have A &P II completed in time, to apply in Jan. I might apply anyway.... I am going to apply for Weatherford and Brookhaven for sure. Once I take the TEAS, I should have 26 points, she told me they would give me a C for A&PII, during the admission process. I hope I can get in, somewhere. I prefer TCC, its closer to home, and I am used to it. If not Brookhaven is my second choice, their program is 16 months.

Wow - I'm really surprised to hear that someone was accepted at TCC but not Weatherford. Its usually the other way around. Good job!!

Hi Stacygirl... I wasnt accepted to either. I plan on applying to both in Jan. 2010. I wont have A&PII done until May 2010, which would knock me out for TCC, but I am applying anyway.... Hopefully I can attend another college and get that class done, in time to apply for TCC. Fingers are crossed!

I am suprised to hear that too! I am taking the TEAS test by the end of August and will turn in both applications by then. I am sooooo nervous!! I have to take the accuplacer for algebra next week too!

Please tell me how the Accuplacer goes... I am planning on taking it soon as well.

I'm applying to Weatherford in the Dec-Jan application period. I will be done with all pre-req's except PE. My understanding was that you at least had to have the 3 sciences and either a Chemistry or college level math out of the way before applying. The packet I received outlined the "points" system, and I don't know how you could get enough points without having those and at least some of the other pre-req's done. I'm attending TCC right now, but Weatherford is actually closer to me, and if I can shave off 6 months by being able to apply without having taken my PE, (I would have to have it finished to apply to TCC) that's better. I will take PE (First Aid) in the spring.

good morning foralltherightreason, actually at tcc you do not need to have pe done to apply, if you have everything else, you can still apply for tcc. per the website:

general education course requirements

  • all general education courses, except for the humanities/fine arts elective, pe course (phed 1164) and the speech course (spch 1311, spch 1315, spch 1321) must be completed before applying to the program. refer to the [color=#0b62bf]catalog to see the nursing degree plan and a list of all the required general education courses.

in addition:

*notes: all of the above *courses must be completed at the time of application. phed 1164, speech 1311 or 1315 or 1321; and humanities/fine arts elective must be completed before you complete the program.

1. all biology courses must have been completed within the last five (5) years.

2. select from tcc core curriculum list found in tcc catalog

3. math competency may be met by completion of math 0350; a college level mathematics course, or by an accuplacer placement test score equal to college algebra.

it looks like you may be good to apply for both schools.

for weatherford, you need to have all the pre-reqs. i called and talked to the nursing dept. i believe it was karen, and she told me if i was currently taking a&pii, i can still apply, but the grade would be counted as a "c", which all my other grades are a's, so that would still give me a 3.5 gpa, and she said that was competitive.

I know you don't HAVE to have it finished, but from what I've heard, you won't make the cut because of so many applying that have all their pre-req's finished. I'm hoping with my grades, I'll have enough to get in at Weatherford on the first try. I'm at a 4.0 right now, but taking A & P I, and Micro in the fall, so those might bring it down.
