Tarrant County College Fall 2012

So I think we are well into the application period so, surely it is time to start up this board. I can not wait until we hear back in May. Trying to keep very busy while waiting. Good luck to everyone applying!! Hopefully we can keep each other company here and celebrate our successes!!

OMG I finally figured it out! For anyone else who has trouble (unless I'm the only one who did! lol) you go to "Registration" then to "Register and Drop Sections" then to "Build preferred section list and register" and then you can type in the synonym...

Has everyone registered already?? I did get an email saying that they have the results from the lab and will send an email to let me know when to register. Haven't received that email yet.

Ok, I was just up at the campus and I spoke to another student who hadn't received the green light either, so I guess it's all good :)

Apparently half of the emails telling people to register went out today and the other half will go out tomorrow. I ran home as soon as I got the email and registered. Feels good to know my spot is secure and this crazy ride we are all about to go on is quickly approaching!!

I know, now that it's official and things are REALLY happening, I am starting to get butterflies!

hey guys!!! i've seen quite a few of you new nursing students :yeah: around campus in the past week or so turning in papers and forms! Congratulations again and get ready for one heck of a ride! Hope you are all ready because it will come and go before you know it!

Thanks Husker! I'm ready, my seatbelt is fastened and I'm excited to get this journey on the road!

For any of you who are starting in the Fall, Caitlyn started a Facebook page for us. It's under TCC Nursing Students Group - Fall 2012. I think a lot of us have moved over there, seeing how quiet it has been here. We're hoping to use it throughout the semester as a way to stay informed, ask questions and form study groups. If you have any problems finding it, just message me.

To everyone who's about to start (or start back up) this semester...WORK HARD and HAVE A GREAT SEMESTER!!!

Hey guys! Just a quick question, which books have you brought already?

I bought the package with the ebooks and regular books.

Hi all, was hoping to get some words of advice from you since you recently have gone through app process. I am applying now for Spring 2013. Just took my hesi and only scored an 89.5 :-/ & i only have a 3.5 science gpa. I'm a bit emotional & discouraged bc I just spoke to the nursing advising dept & was told most apps coming in are all A's. She almost made me feel like i dont have a chance. Were any of you in the same boat? I dont know what to do at this point. This is my dream & i feel like i've already gotten my rejection. Thanks.

It is different every semester and really depends who you are going up against. You should definitely still apply and if worse comes to worse and you don't get in then you can always reapply for the fall. I am currently in my first semester of nursing school and I was terrified I wouldn't get in. My back up plan if I ended up not getting accepted was to reapply, take the hesi again and then take a 2 or 3 month course to get my CNA license. Working as a CNA really puts you ahead and you learn a lot of the same stuff you will be learning in skills in nursing school. That way, by the time you get in you will already know the basics =) best of luck to you!

KLP~ If this is your dream then don't give up!! You've already made it this far so you might as well apply and just see what happens. You never know what could happen! Yes the program is competitive, but not everyone made ALL A's... Even if you didn't get one of the acceptence letters, you might get put on the alternate list. Some people in our class were being notified that they had been accepted 2 weeks before school started! A lot of people that apply and get accepted, also apply to other schools and will choose to go somewhere else (like a university). So spots will open up. I applied somewhere else before I applied to TCC. I had a C in A&P 1, then a B in A&P 2, and an A in micro, and a horrible TEAS test score (they didn't accept the HESI). I got rejected so I decided that I would take A&P 1 over and I made an A. At that point I was able to apply to TCC (bc I also took chemistry which I needed anyway to apply, and made an A) and then I got accepted. Also I'm not 100% sure but I think I remember a couple of people who were accepted (not wait listed) with scores just like yours. So don't get discouraged! :)
