So I think we are well into the application period so, surely it is time to start up this board. I can not wait until we hear back in May. Trying to keep very busy while waiting. Good luck to everyone applying!! Hopefully we can keep each other company here and celebrate our successes!!
I had a question about financial aid. When i first started going to TCC i got denied financial aid, but i know i wont be able to afford nursing school on my own. I looked on the website and the deadline to apply for financial aid was May 1st. How are you going to pay for this if you dont mind me asking? Had you already previously applied for financial aid?
Elizabeth, you can still apply for financial aid. You may not get it before the semester starts, but there is usually a payment option or you can put it on a credit card to by time. If you get denied for the financial aid, you can still take a student loan. You do not have to go through TCC for the student loan. Most banks offer them as well. Fill out the online FASFA form. You do have to show you have been denied the Grant before you can apply for the loan even at most banks. I have been saving and have enough saved up to cover tuition, books, ect..., but I am taking a smaller loan to cover extra help with my children. Usually the student loans are low interest, and low payments for the repay.
Also, not sure about TCC, but I took my niece to her Baylor orientation and the people in the financial aid office were a wealth of information! They gave her some really great pointers, even told her which banks around there were offering loans with the lowest interest rates. I imagine TCC would be the same way. Those people are up to speed on all the latest info
BTW if anyone lives in or near Arlington PRN scrubs on copper will see your patches on for $1 and you get it back next day. You can bring scrubs in also that you bought online or elsewhere and they still just charge $1. Today they are having a buy one get line half off sale. I just had to get some new one for my new job.
