I called today and was told notices will be sent out the first week of May. This was kind of different because up until this point, except for the nursing advisor who told me March, I was told "in May". Really hoping that next week will bring the answers we're all waiting for! Actually, I'm still hoping for this week!! Hoping for a "Thursday" email lol.

Kate, I've been feeling the same way. I guess that's more normal than I thought! Lol it's hard when so many other schools have already told their applicants and we are still waiting, and really don't know for sure when we'll find out... I just don't understand why last application period they told them in a month, and it's almost 2 months for us, what is different this time around? It's just nice to be able to vent to people who are going through the same thing, who understand! :) Please TCC don't make us wait too much longer!!!

Thanks Kate. Thanks vc1478 for the information on msu. I guess I was just worried because I didn't know much about the university and how their nursing program is compared to other schools but your information definitely helped. I guess I was just having a hard time picking the right school because I want to go to a school that provides the best education with the best clinical experiences, and you actually learn whether it's in the classroom or a clinical setting. But I think that's what I'm going to do.- go for my BSN first and then if I decide to do masters, then do a NP or CNS degree online.

Also, something that I found out recently is if anyone wants to apply to another nursing program for the Fall 2012 semester, Mountain View College is accepting applications. Their deadline is June 7th so anyone that wants to apply, there is still time. They accept the hesi and I can't remember any other requirements but just click on the link below.

I just found this website today and its nice to see that i'm not the only one who is going crazy waiting! I have been counting down the days until May 1st and hope we find out then (if not sooner). The counselor i saw when i turned in my application said it could be the first of may or the last of may. She said there was no telling and she did not know too much else about it. Trying to keep myself busy and hope my scores are good enough!! Good luck to everyone!!

I was looking at Majors Bookstore online and saw that TCC only has four books listed for semester 1 students. I thought that was rather low so compared a few other schools and noticed that their book packages had a lot more books and were in the range of $800. I'm trying to figure out how much books are going to be. I know with the acceptance letter they give you a list of books but I thought I read that people were opting to buy the bundle. I'm confused. It seems like there should be more books than just four. Plus no fundamentals or foundations books were listed. Anybody have any idea what we're looking at ($$$) for books for semester 1?

For the first semester you will need: Foundations book, pharm book, skills book, med surg book. They also recommend that you buy a care plan book, drug book, med dictionary, lab diagnostic book.

My advice: the med dictionary, drug book and lab diagnostic book are on tcc's library database to use for free! I bought the previous edition of my foundations book for $8 at Half priced books. I bought my pharm and skills book new on majors website (which in hindsight, I would have purchased older versions of those as well). I would invest in a GOOD care plan book because you will use it EVERYDAY in your clinicals.

thanks for the info, manow! I think all I need are the 4 required books and a care plan. Still have my drug and med dictionary from A&P and pharmacology. Glad to know about the TCC database too. Looks like books may not be any worse than a regular semester of prereqs. (I say all this SHOULD I make it into the program...the ever-present planner in me is always at work)

I am hoping today is the "Thursday" , I am so ready for 3:37 PM! LOL. I actually am starting to wonder if they are going to wait until May 1 and always wait to send them until the first day of canidates notified dates. Maybe sending them earlier has too many people expecting earlier so they want to make it more standard. Who knows?!? Just ready for the first round of agony to end, and hoping for more to come. Also, on med dictionary and drug book, theres an app for that!

lol B&Csmom! I'll be checking at 3:37pm too! I got excited b/c I thought that tomorrow was the last "work" day of the month and then the 1st was during the weekend... oh how sad I was when I saw the 30th and 1st were next Monday and Tuesday... If we don't find out today or tomorrow, I'm not going to be able to think about anything else over the weekend (not that I really have thought about much else this whole time anyways lol)! I can't even stop my relentless checking of my cc email over the weekend, even though I know "that" email won't be in there, I just can't help myself!! :uhoh3:
