Hi there! This topic is for students applying for TCCD Fall 2016 ADN program. I'm excited about getting the ball rolling!
I haven't read through all the comments, don't have time! But - I stumbled across this while procrastinating when I should be studying for the HESI. (that is your final every semester for the nursing program) I'm in Foundations at TCC and wish you all the absolute best! Enjoy your free time, get organized (get a good planner NOW), build a strong, loyal, and understanding support system, and spend some time with those you love! This is definitely one of the most difficult things I've ever done. But - I have grown more since Jan 19 than I ever could have imagined. I can totally see from my green and immature perspective that I will never for a moment regret this. I plan on volunteering at orientation, so maybe I will get to meet some of you! If anyone has any questions, let me know! I'm happy to help! Also - at orientation (day 2 probably) you will have the opportunity to get a mentor. DO IT. Make as many lifelines as you can, because you will need them! Look around those at your table at orientation, get to know them - THEY will be your new family! (you'll still have your old family, but there is something about changing a colostomy bag together that seals a tight bond). And introduce yourself to your professors as soon as you get a chance. Make them remember your face - I PROMISE YOU, you will be thankful they know you when you need help. Nursing school is not like A&P, Micro, etc. It's much more personal. Also- check out bigwords.com for your books where possible. Saved me hundreds! Congratulations all of you and best wishes on this new adventure!
P.S. I know it doesn't seem like it right now, it seems a lifetime away, but there will be a day where you will be on here wishing the Spring (and Fall) of 2017 class well. Hold onto that thought and know that you earned this, you ARE capable!
