I was wondering who the other people were who got into the program for the spring? I will be new to the Corpus area and I know i'm going to need study buddies! Are their any students in nursing school there now because I have a million question LOL
I think my description of CC is pretty spot on. As soon as my boyfriend leaves for Afghanistan (navy pilot), there will be even less going on in CC!
In all seriousness, I do find it very beneficial while in school.
All I do is eat, sleep, go to school, and study, oh and work out/run.
It's awesome.
I applied to TAMU and to the Nursing Program today. I don't think I will have any issue getting into TAMU, but with the RN program I am crossing my fingers. I can't really proceed with joining the Navy Nurse Candidate Program until I get an acceptance letter into a BSN program.
I'm just waiting... and taking 15 hours this semester, all of which HAVE to be passed. Woof.
The letter they sent states that they will mail acceptance letters in March. I only want to go to TAMUCC so I hope to get in. There really is no way to tell what GPA is good or not, because it can fluctuate so much semester to semester. Some you need a 3.8 some you need a 3.1. It just depends on who applied that cycle. I just keep praying that God opens the door for me. Corpus really is the best place to go to school. You cant help but stay out of trouble. I do plan on doing some things I never did when I grew up there. Ie.. more boat n net. ha ha
Are you taking Health Alt now? I am taking it starting tomorrow. Have you heard anything about that class?
Darla
I am taking health alterations in the summer. Good luck with the class.
I haven't heard anything about it but I for some reason assume it is like basic nursing skills?
I took a similar class at Del Mar when I was going to go into their nursing program.
I actually also became a licensed CNA so I could work part time while in school.. turns out being a CNA was not for me.
I have a 3.67 at Del Mar as of the end of last semester, but when you take out the classes that don't transfer to TAMU it lowers my GPA.. bummer. I am hoping and praying as well. I am really not sure what I would do in the fall if I don't get in. I know for sure without a doubt I'd get in if I had to apply again, for Spring 2011.. but I really hope that doesn't happen.

I am getting a CNA license too. I really wanted to do something that had very flexible hours. I prefer to work at night while my baby is asleep. You did not like CNA...did you still think you would like nursing?
If you do not get in the Fall.. dont give up. You could have a whole bunch of of people apply that have your same GPA. They are very hush hush about GPA so it can be frustrating. Its just the luck of the draw cause you never know what the pool of candidates your up against looks like. You can not apply for two semesters at the same time. You dont find out in time if you got accepted for the summer until it is too late to try and apply for the Fall. So i really need to get in or Ill have to wait until Spring 2011! eeek.
I didn't like CNA work but I still know I am going to like being an RN.
Being a CNA was very difficult for me because I was expected to just do grunt work 8 hours a day (this is the most physically demanding work I've ever encountered). I was expected not to do anything "thinking" what-so-ever. The emotional aspect of being a CNA is similar to what I think it will be for being an RN.. and I am okay with that part.
I am about 5'4'' and 109lbs.. and being a CNA I was expected to be able to move people around that were 2x or 3x or 4x my size.. and that just isn't safe for any one involved.

5'4 109? I wish. I guess a perk of getting our education is not having to do that kind of work. I too like to think
I am in the process of signing up for Pathophysiology through UNL (online program) I might try and do it over the summer, but need to try and get my GI Bill to cover it so need to start in the spring sometime! Might be over extending myself with that and AP II and Micro oh and Psych! I took child psych years ago but figured it wouldnt count. :/
Mom2_3boys,
I found APII easier than API (just because you already have the language down and you know how to study for the subject).
Microbio at my school as a breeze because the Professor was AMAZING. He explained things in the clearest possible way. So I can't say how Micro will be where you are, but I found it extremely interesting.
And Psychology .. I found that was all vocabulary.. easy A.
If you aren't working you could probably tackle Patho also.. though I have no idea what that class is like.
Any way, just my thoughts.
I am sure you'll do well no matter what. :)
Back to the waiting game for me.

OMG! You are so funny. I am living in Houston, but have applied for the BSN summer start program. Your description of CC is right on. I have spent most of my time in San Antonio so I know what you are talking about. However, I look forward to being in CC. The slow pace is something I welcome now.
