TAMUCC Accelerated BSN Summer 2021

Published

Hello! I haven't found a thread yet for anyone applying to this program. Any others out there? ?

@Evelyn Dalton Sure! My schedule this upcoming week is as follows:

  • Sunday: Clinical from 6:30 AM to about 5:00 PM
  • Monday: Clinical from 8:00 AM to about 5:00 PM
  • Tuesday: Lab from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM, then class from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM
  • Wednesday: Class from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM, then another class from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM
  • Thursday: Nothing
  • Friday: Nothing
  • Saturday: Nothing

Other weeks are similar, sometimes a bit more or a bit less. We have online classes that I didn't include in this schedule, but only because they don't have a designated class time. Also, we don't usually have two clinical rotations per week.

@volfar Do you suggest buying a stethoscope? Or waiting till later in the program? ? Thanks!

It's definitely not necessary! The ABSN program provides all students with a stethoscope. It a simple black Littman.

@volfar Thank you for all the detailed information. Would you recommend someone from an engineering backgorund like me to consider this program or a No No? Also, why is this called an Island University?

@volfar  Hello, What scholarships or Grants did you or your fellow classmates apply to for this program? Also when you started in June 2020 what was your schedule like prior to starting clinicals?

I don't see why not. The students in my cohort are from various academic backgrounds, and I'm not sure how much of a role it has played. I'd say that if you are passionate about nursing and you are confident in your ability to study, this program (or any nursing program, really) is a good fit for you.

The university is on an island! You should look up the campus on Google Maps so you can see what I mean.

I did not apply for any scholarships or grants. I'll have to ask my cohort to see if anyone else did. I know the HRSA has a nursing scholarship; you may be interested in that. Our prior schedules were essentially the same. Same amount of hours, some online classes, some in-person classes. Just no clinicals. We started clinical rotations in our second semester.

@volfarthank you. Also, were any of the students in your cohort able to hold full or part time jobs while in the accelerated program?

Just got my interview invite finally. I think since I resubmitted my new grades  after the fall semester, it must have bump me down the line.

I messed up on one of my interview questions or tbh I feel like I messed up on all of them ? I finished in about 4min I think. Honestly I’m just sooo tired ? I just finished working 3 night. Praying I get in ??

Hiiii! I got my acceptance letter last Monday and I am super excited to start! I hope this isn't too personal of a question but I was wondering how much tuition costs?

I was scheduled to be interviewed today but due to the weather I had to reschedule. Still pretty nervous. Anyone have any insight on what type of questions are asked during the interview or have any tips.

TIA

I had my interview scheduled for today but due to weather it got canceled. I am super nervous about this interview! Could anyone help and tell me some questions you were asked in the interview? It would be HIGHLY appreciated!
