I am relocating from Indiana to the Tampa area. I have started classes for my LPN. Can you suggest a good school in the Tampa area for LPN's. Thank you!

I'm not sure about Tampa, but the Florida Board of Nursing website has a list of accredited programs (ADN and PN). Check out:
http://www.doh.state.fl.us/mqa/nursing/lst_trainingprograms.pdf
You can also see the passing rates for the schools (2003 and 2004) at:
This is a helpful document. I have found some of those places, but most I have not heard of. Thank you very much!

The local LPN program is at Erwin Technical School http://www.erwintech.edu. There's a waiting list to get in, about a year, but it's very economical. There's a private program in St. Petersburg at a school called Galen. It's about $15,000. Also in St. Petersburg is Pinellas Technical School. They have a LPN program.

Here are some links to LPN schools in the Tampabay area. http://www.phcc.edu/academics/programs/display.php?id=lpn Pasco Hernando Community College, http://www.galened.com/index.htm Galen Health Institute ( I am going there. Very good school but pricey. Around 13K) http://www.ptec.pinellas.k12.fl.us/ Pinellas Tech, Erwin Tech the link already provided. http://www.keisercareer.edu/ Keiser (New to St. Petersburg) http://brewstertech.org/ And Brewster Tech.
Thank you everyone for this very helpful information. Galen is very pricey. I was looking into Erwin. Does anyone attend this program. I'd like to hear some feedback, good or bad.

A little more south is Manatee Technical Institute (Bradenton) & Sarasota County Technical Institute. I've known nurses & former classmates who drove across the Skyway Bridge from St. Pete & Clearwater to attend these programs.
Manatee Tech is east of I-75 off of US HWY 64 I believe, have friend going there now & 2 colleagues graduated there last year.
I graduated from Sarasota County program 07/2005, did not know about the Manatee program at the time.
I think as long as you get all applications, transcripts, physical, etc in before end of March- you could attend August/Fall session.
One caveat- Sarasota does clinicals down at Venice Regional or did when I was in school, a 45 minute drive from my house at exit 224 Ellenton Outlet mall & I can SEE the interstate from my neighborhood.

This is great. I looked into Manatee a little bit. Part of the problem is that I am not exactly sure where we are going to live. My husband is in Tampa now and I will be going for a week in April. But we won't move down until May or so. Thanks again for this great info. I am learning where the highways are, so having some direction as where to go definitely gives me an idea where things are.

This is great. Erwin has definitely peaked my interest. I think now, we just need to determine where we are going to live. Then after I move, I can contact Erwin for further information. Thank you everyone for all your helpful information. It has been a great help.:w00t:
Are you planning on renting or buying ?
A good place to live for you would be Oldsmar, it is not too expensive YET and very nice, and close to Tampa.
