Hello. Im applying for the ADN RN program at tallahassee community college for Fall 2011. I was wondering if anyone took the entrance exam already? If so, what scores you got.. Im trying to get an idea of where I stand. thanks & good luck!
I called the Southeastern School of Health Sciences today and got in for August 5th, 9am - 1:30pm. It was $57 for me and you have to rent a book. Hehe, I'm glad you got your class in! I'm right down to the wire since everything is due the 5th at 5pm. Lol.
Now to find shoes, get books, do TMH orientation and get a stethoscope. WHOO! Almost done!
@ ashixes: Do we need to have a stethoscope? I thought at orientation they said that we should probably wait to get one because there are different manufacturers = different fit, but if you can't stand the thought of sharing one with someone I guess you should get one. I think I'll wait and test some of them out in lab and then go get one once I see what I like .
What kind of shoe did people get? I haven't bought any yet because I have a high arch, but I really love lots of padding too because I hate it when my feet hurt!
@gbird10: Yeah, waiting would be safe and sounds like a good idea. There is a whole forum for stethoscopes here, too. https://allnurses.com/nursing-stethoscope/
I haven't gotten shoes either! I emailed them about some Crocs with no holes and more of a heel but they gave them the thumbs down. I have regular arches and still would love some arch support. Hehe.
Amen to comfy shoes.
Have you guys gotten all of your books yet?
I think I may need a rolling backpack. Please no!
Also, does anyone else have a cartilage piercing and/or nose ring? I have a nose ring and was wanting my cartilage done. I also have 3 holes in one ear and two in the other, but I can just not wear the secondary ones. What happens with those in clinicals? Is the body jewelry policy strictly enforced?
Where did you find the list of required textbooks? I have all of them except for the two books on the top and the two books on the bottom. Were those books optional or required?
K, I found the books by going to my schedule for the Fall and clicking the little book icon for NUR1020.
It brings up a website with the required texts. It says the med-surg books are required, and those 4 med-surg books are the first option on the page.
And then in addition to those books, there are the two pharmacology ones found by clicking the book icon next to NUR1141, and that's all of them, I believe.
Hope that helps!
Any news on shoes on good shoes?

Hey msnole,
They just sent an email to our TCC emails on July 19th with the CRMC Orientation attached and it has to be submitted to the HCP office on the main campus by Friday, July 22, by 5 pm.
And I think you drop the items at the TPP center (facing the parking garage) but they are moving to the new facility July 25th, so you can take the paperwork to the front desk of the Ghazvini center starting Tuesday, July 26th. :)
Has anyone gotten their BLS certificate yet? I'm having trouble finding an open class. I'm on a waiting list for TPCA but they haven't called back with their new schedules. Are there any others? I'm worrying!
