Hey, I was wondering if there was anyone else applying for the Fall 2021 Nursing program and how hopeful you feel about getting in? I am so nervous ?
Yup. Between the CastleBranch registration, CPR certification, TB test... Soon it'll be scrubs and stethoscopes and other tools... ugh
The fingerprints and the drug test were super easy; I just did those today in about 20 minutes. Not all the labcorp branches do drug testing, so folks make sure you go to the CapCirNW or the John Knox location.
The hardest part for me will be trying to track down my childhood vaccination records from waaaay back when. I guess I'll have to pay for a chicken pox titer too, since the chicken pox vaccine wasn't a thing when I was a kid. ?
It says skin test OR QuantiFERON blood test, so I assume yes.
RoxMix: The email from (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) specifically mentions getting the health form signed by a doctor, so that's probably the safest thing to do. But you might reach out and see if uploading original documents from the health dept. would suffice. Especially if you don't have a PCP, it might be tough for some students to get the form signed off on by a provider.
If you do email him, please let us all know the response you get.
Does anyone know if the nursing program follows the regular TCC academic calendar with regards to Thanksgiving and Winter breaks?
How is everyone doing with getting the requirements? I had a hell of a time getting my records so in the interest of time I went ahead and started the series over again. ? I’m going to do the BLS through the AHA and hoping to get the drug test and finger prints done by Friday. I hope I don’t get any issues with the vaccines or I will throw a fit ?
Have you had an the required vaccines before? They allow you to present titer test results in lieu of vaccination records, so if that's a possibility for you, that's another option.
The vaccine records have definitely been the trickiest part for me too.
I scheduled appointments with TPCA's lab and was able to get a blood draw for titers and start the Hep B series in one trip, so that was quick.
Fingerprints and drug test were super quick and easy; you shouldn't have any issue. I just did the CPR certification this morning with CPRtally and that was easy and enjoyable.
Now I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping my titers show I don't need to repeat any vaccines.
How long did it take for your titer results to come in? I got a response from Gloria that starting the vaccines over again will just add a reminder to finish the series but this works for the requirement. I did the drug test Monday and the finger prints I will do Friday when I drive back into town. How long did it take for y’all’s results to show up in CB? I did the BLS with the AHA yesterday and loaded and it’s still showing pending. IDK how it’s all supposed to show to ensure we meet the requirements by 7/1. Is it OK that we submit or does it already need to be processed and show ‘complete’?
