Tallahassee Community College- Fall 2016

Published

Anyone here planning to apply to Tallahassee Community College's RN program beginning Fall 2016? I have finished all pre-req's, but have not taken the HESI. Anybody that has taken the HESI, how was it?!

I'm applying and yet to take it !

Awesome! I actually took the HESI a couple weeks ago. It was pretty easy, I got a 96% overall score. I bought the study book that the TCC bookstore sells and the questions were very similar to the ones in the study book. Are you applying to any other schools?

Hi! I was in a RN program in Tampa. Completed 80% and lost all finaid and had to drop in 2012. Gut wrenching. Hubby and I moved to tally a year ago and I've been trying to get intoTCCs program. I applied with 148 total points. My gpa was a little low 3.4.. Totally sucks to have to start completely over but I am excited to get this going! Let let me transfer everything but my nursing classes. So I'm hopeful.

What school in Tampa? I just moved to here from Tampa in December. I was going to PHCC and transferred to TCC this semester. I'm sorry about what happened to you, it must have been soo hard to go through. 148 is a great score! I think I have 156 points, I have a 4.0 GPA and scored 96 on HESI, plus the 5 additional points for each section for scoring above 90.

I hope we get in!!! From what I have read on other posts we won't find out until June if we are accepted.

I tried getting into FAMU nursing and I have 3.16 cumulative my science is 3.8. I'm having a change in career I have a bachelors in psych and philosophy and I really want to be a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner... I am applying to TCC. Southern RegionalnTech in Thinasville and Bainbridge Commmunity College in Bainbridge ... I work currently in my field and I'm just ready to be a nurse

Everest. It was an awesome education but so expensive I battled with funding the whole time. Very stressful. Congrats on your scores! Shouldn't be a problem getting in!!

Keenabeena88- I am a Medical Assistant, and worked a few years in a dermatology office and then did home healthcare. I decided after working for a few years to go back to school for nursing. I hope to one day become a Nurse Practitioner too, but haven't decided on a specialty. I'm thinking about applying to other schools in case I don't get in at TCC, but the ones that offer the associates in nursing are a far drive and I don't have the pre-reqs for a bachelor program finished. What school is your top choice?

AbbySmith1014- Yeah I considered going there, or Galen, but both were too expensive. Were you able to work while you were in the program? I'm hoping that I will still be able to work part time, but I'm thinking it will be rough. Also, did you ever have George Hanak? He was my A&P professor and used to teach at Everest. I think its funny we are both from Tampa! I grew up there but my boyfriend and I just moved here for his job. I am liking it here so far, but its def a smaller city compared Tampa.

Do either of you know anyone in the program already? Since I just moved here I don't really know too many people and am just curious about the teachers, clinicals, and any advice.

Small world! I was born and raised in Tampa. Newsome class of '08. Lol my husband was raised here and we met in Tampa, he wanted to be close to his family. I miss Tampa terribly í ½í¸ I go home and visit at least once a month/few months. I love the lack of traffic here!! But I sure miss home. Everest was crazy expensive like 65k when I left. I started out 2010 and left may 2012 (due to graduate October 2012) how depressing is that. My A&p prof was African very thick accent.

I started school at 20 yrs old with a 14 month old boy. It was the hardest most intense experience of my life. I worked at a weight loss clinic part time (like weekends) but ended up having to quit. If it wasn't for my parents I wouldn't have been able to survive.

That little boy is almost 7 now and I have a 4 month old. So I will not be working this go around. Way too much pressure. But i don't know what TCCs program is like. Everest was school Monday-Friday 8-4pm then 3 days clinical a 7am-7pm. It was rough.

I don't know anyone either. í ½í¸«

The spring 2016 and fall 2015 threads have past and current students. I noticed you the average points are 138+ to gaining entry (average) ... I have a degree. Plan on passing the HESI ... And getting into TCC. I have almost everything done but do you all have the link to seeing what we are required to turn in? I just want to ensure that by May I am prepared. I'm down the block from TCC and I wish I had credentials to get into FSU accelerated Bc it's 1 year and totally worth it to me. And TCC is currently a BSN school so I figure why not!

Abby- Yeah I miss it too, I was just in Tampa last weekend visiting... maybe one day we'll move back! It's nice that I have my boyfriend here but he works 60+ hours a week. I've met a few people through work, but no close friends yet. So I'm trying to keep myself occupied with Microbiology this semester. Are you currently taking any classes?

Keene- I am planning on going to talk to an advisor next week about everything we need to turn in. I'll let you know after! I know some girls that were in FSU's nursing program and said it was really difficult to get into. I met someone in their accelerated program and they love it.

Adavis- I am finishing my  classes for my AA. Currently taking history. I am going to take chemistry over the summer. Other than that I'm done. I applied last week. Countdown to June!
