Hi everyone.
I did a search on what new grads make in the tallahassee area but it was from 2003. Can anyone tell me what new grads are starting at in this area.
Thank you

I am a recent grad from a college in Tallahassee. There are 2 hospitals there and new grads make between $16-$17 an hour. That is why I moved to Jacksonville.
Oh my gosh you make more than that in Mississippi!!!! and MS is cheaper....geesh I would have at least thought that in the past couple of years that the wage would have gone up. Oh well.
Thanks for your swift reply

Tallahassee Memorial Hospital came in to recruit in our class. Said New Grads are offered $17.50 (which is a joke), and talk that they want to become a magnet Hospital. Dont see that happening with that crap pay, I'll be moving upon my graduation. I made a deal with myself to strive for >$20 starting. Good luck to you!
Thanks for your replies
Hmmmm that's funny I emailed a recruiter and she told me the base pay for a new grad was 17.02 . I told her I was interested in the area and she sent me information regarding relocation pay etc. I wonder why she told me something different. Darn recruiters! I guess it would benefit them to save 48 cents an hour . The state of florida needs to get a grip that pay is just way too low for the cost of living there.

I was at TMH last year as a traveler, at that time their turnover seemed to be pretty high. To find better wages in Florida you have to go where there is competition. Unfortunately in Tallahassee the only competition is a HCA hospital- ie for profit. So that puts pressure on the wages as well. Another thing is that beyond being the state capital it is a pretty rural area otherwise. Theres not much around there once you leave the city, again more pressure on the wages. If you want to stay in Florida and make more ie the magical $20 as another poster mentioned you have to look toward Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa/St. Pete, or Miami.

PS- TMH pays BSN's more then ADN's hence a different starting wage qoute.

Good Luck to you, that will not be easy to find in most of Florida, though possible in Southern Florida (you should know some Spanish, though, and will be paying much higher rent).
Please review old threads. Florida has always been low pay. And given the attitude of the governor, will continue to be low paying. Jeb has cut back on nursing school funding and is against ratios.
