Hi, just spoke with a Talemed recruiter. Of course, the company sounded fabulous. Does anyone know about this company? If so, please share your thoughts. Thank you!

I am not familiar with them. I have been working with American Mobile. I dropped you a PM. Let me know if you are interested in them. I know they are a part of the "Evil Empire" but they do have a lot of assignments in a lot of areas and have been good to me so far.

They are listed as one of the top 10 on highway hypodermics website. I spoke with them too, and the recruiter was very patient at answering all my questions. That's about all I know. I'm considering travel nursing, so I am in the process of checking out/comparing LOTS of companies.
What is the "Evil Empire"?

Hi I have worked with Talemed, and had a very good experience. Once called (my recruiter) at midnight on Easter due to freak out over job-she was great!!!. iN FACT, i DECIDED TO CHECK OUT ANOTHER COMPANY,SIGNED A CONTRACT, THEN THE HOSPITAL CANCELLED ALL THE TRAVELERS DUE TO CENSUS BOMBING. i TOLD X AND SHE HAS AN INTERVIEW WITH A HOSPITAL SET UP FOR THIS mONDAY! Highly recommend them. Yvonne

Hello,
I don't know anything about them. Highway hypodermics is always good, as is ultimatenurse.com and locumsreview.com Just beware of "shilled" reviews from agencies on these review sites. You can usually tell them from real reviews. If it sounds fake, it probably is.
Good luck

I will begin travel nursing next month & have been inquiring with various companies because I have to start traveling in a particular part of the country due to family issues there. A talemed recruiter contacted me by email with some details about 2 positions in my area of interest. I attempted to call her last week & was told that she was on the phone and would call me right back. Not only has she not called me back, she ignored a follow up email I sent the next day regarding my understanding that she may not have had a chance to get back to me. One of the positions she told me about was perfect and I let her know that. I can't understand why the lack of follow through; but, if this is going to happen before I even decide to work with them, I can't imagine what would it be like after I agree on a position and drive half way across the country. Just though I'd pass my experience on to those that might be interested.

My wife is getting close to travel ( 3 weeks to go) and we have been talking to a recruiter there. Out of all the companies I have talked to Talemed has offered the best solutions so far. It will be interesting when we get to actually talk money. All I can say is talk to as many travelers that have been doing this for awhile and don't look to the ones looking for the area but those that are more interested in the money. I have talked to so many travelers and have gotten so much information from them. It is like any other profession, the less you know the more you will get screwed, but I guess of you don't know then you won't know. Research research research, and not just the company but the info that you should know when negotiating pay.
Thanks to those that have supplied so much information to me and I will be negotiating my wife's pay...a pimp if you will, at least that's what the travelers have been calling me. I have been talking to Sarah Ellis at Talemed and she is right on every thing I have asked for so far. I have had a problem with her boss in her getting messages so contact her directly. I will say she is in training but she will work hard for you, at least that's what I have found so far. Things may change when I start talking pay with her only because she may be limited in what she can negotiate, now that I have the resources at hand that should be non- negotiating like housing and meal stipend. There is a chart that is what the government allows for these broken down by counties in each state.

Stay away from them left me hanging high and dry on my last assignment

When the surplus of nurses exists travel companies seem to get on the band wagon of treating RNs like "*******" and Talemed is no different. I was ready today to travel after having accepted an offer Nov 30. Yesterday I am contacted by them and they ask for tests to be taken and physical exam info. states she sent the request to me on Nov 16. I did not have an offer till November 30. Any experienced traveler will know no company will request doctor info from you until you get the offer and sign the contract. I confront as to why when this is the day prior to my travel day she is requesting this info. Keep in mind the company has had the offer since 11/30/2011. Also the day prior to travel I am asked to take tests. Again you have had this contract since 11/30/2011 and on 12/8 you are asking me to do all this. My start date is 12/12/2011. I intended to leave 12/9/2011 to get to NorCal 12/10.
About 4pm my time AZ time Talemed calls me accusing me of not submitting the information requested on 11/16/2011 by . I told her there was no contract offer and there was no request. I asked ***** the same thing I said to when she told me she sent the request out on 11/16/2011. Which is why would you request this information when I do not have a contract and I signed up with you on 11/15/2011. was not able to answer this information. Then ***** went over some "discrepancies" in my background investigation, which included information on my husband. I told her that ***** is my husband and I don't know why they were getting information on my background investigation about my husband. HUUUUMMMM!!!! Did they do an investigation on my spouse without consent????? Was it because his name is ***** ***** and it is a racial profile???? ***** asked me about my last name and why I said I was not known by other names and according to my background investigation I am known by two other last names. I did not deny this and told ***** that the online app would not allow me to enter the other last names so that is why I denied any other last names on my application. I told ***** that I did use those last names literally years ago.
Then she asked my about my DL and that according to the background investigation it is stated that I am not eligible for an AZ license which I sent Talemed a copy of. I asked *****, in hopes of her stupidity taking a brief momentary lapse, about if I am ineligible for a AZ DL why did I submit a copy of my license to her. To this she agreed and laughed. Then she asked about another indescrepancy on my background investigation about a speed ticket that was "Up to 10 miles over the posted speed limit" and why I stated on my application that I never pleaded guilty in court about a misdemenor offense. I told her because I never went to court I paid the ticket. I explained to her, again hoping her stupidity will take a momentary lapse, that in AZ we don't go to court for speeds only pay the ticket.
I was on the phone with her for over an hour talking in circles. At times she even had the nerve to talk over me and call me a liar. The conversation ended with her stating she would be contacting the hospital about these descrepancies. And not to travel until I hear from Talemed. What Talemed says to the hospital could potentially slander me. The descrepancies are nothing more than what we all have (speeds) and possibly the result of a poorly conducted background investigation. There is also the question of Talemed conducting an unconsented background investigation on my husband.
***** told me not to travel the following day until I hear from Talemed. Well Talemed I have no intention of traveling with you. I am sure you can understand why. In conclusion, I would stay far from this travel company as the 48 year old OR nurse stated, in the previous post, they do leave you hanging. As far as the hypodermic rating LaRue gives them annually - LaRue can eat me! There are tooo tooo tooo many travel companies out there to be treated like I am some kind of a ***** to anyone.

Pretty much all of the "rating sites" are really just recruiting sites and places for Agencies to advertise.. (even the ones that say there is no money in it for them).
Sorry this has happened to you, what Im understanding is they hit you with a bunch of last minute items including some concerns about your husband? First off that SUCKS but it is kind of a common thing.. Jumping through a bunch of hoops--especially at the last minute happens all the time.
Im not sure why the interest in your husband-- Unless they are providing your housing and he is going with you? It is not illegal to do a background check, criminal records are a matter of public record. I will say that unless they have his SS#, DOB and POB it would been hard to run his background.
I would not be worried about what they are telling the facility. They are probably trying to scramble up your paperwork so you can start. If its a matter of doing some skills checklists and providing a copy of your last physical, thats not a big deal.
