Hello everyone!
I will be taking classes in the fall that will start to count for nursing.
I want to take a poll to see where I should go...
MCC or Baker??

MCC for sure, I just spent a year at Baker doing pre-reqs for the rn program with just about a 4.0 and did not get in. I was number 86 out of 250 that applied. There are only 40 seats. I would have stuck it out but some of the classes do not transfer to other schools. Do your homework for pre-reqs for each school and see what other colleges will take macomb or baker credits. So far the biggest issue is A&P. Henry ford will only apply both A&P 1&2 as one of their a&p classes and I would have to take the 2nd part of their a&p. Not too happy about that. St. Clair will take most of every pre-req from Baker. The only one that they will not take is the mth 111 from baker. If you go elsewhere there may be other pre-reqs for that particular school that may need to be completed, so choose wisely and good luck!

Go wherever you can get in. Admission is very competitive.

I agree with John20. I'm currently at Baker finishing pre-req's -- received my AAS there and I like the school. But when it comes to applications for the Nursing program, I'm submitting app's to multiple schools. I've spoken with a few friends that are already RNs about the comparision between different schools in the area in regards to employability after school and the concensus is that as long as it is an accredited program, they are all viewed the same, so I figure.... where ever I get in first, that's where I'll go
Good luck :redbeathe

If you have the choice (getting accepted into both programs) go to MCC (they are accredited). I've noticed many job postings that want applicants to be from accredited schools.
Good Luck
I'm really wanting to know what school is better to get pre-reqs done at first, and then transfer credits to other schools to get in their program
I would like to mabye even go for a BSN.

MCC for sure. Some of the Baker classes are very hard to transfer. Bakers semesters are 10 weeks, and most are 16, which makes it hard to fit in the same amount of info.
I loved the 10 weeks, 16 is SOOOoooooo long......

MCC for sure - They are accredited, they accept more students (152 this year), they are way cheaper $72.00 a credit hour - I think Baker is $185.00 a credit hour, and entrance is based on GPA of 3 classes (Micro, A&P, and ENG) and HESI score (both 50%). Baker is more complicated - lose points if you transfer so many credits, lose points if you repeat any classes, GPA, HESI, etc. Also I don't know if it has changed but Baker uses your most current HESI score (even if you retook it and the score went down) and Macomb uses your highest score from any year. If you get a chance goto a Nursing seminar at MCC, they have them twice a month and it will cover all requirements and questions that you have. It is worth an hour of your time. GOOD LUCK!

Baker is based on 13 pre-reqs (50%) and the NET test (50%). You loose points if more than 8 credits are transferred in, and points for repeating classes. They allow you to take the NET 2 times and the highest score is used as long as you submit it along with your application.

I really liked the 10 week classes at Baker. I transferred mine in to MCC when I was rejected twice at Baker (#46 and #45 out of 40). MCC is cheaper. My religion class is 6 weeks at MCC and my PE was only 8 weeks, plus the nursing classes go in cycles like that as well. So I didn't loose that part of what I liked about Baker when I transferred to MCC. Well, and the biggest benefit is that I wasn't rejected... and will save a bundle of money. Baker was just rejected again by the NLN. That might be something to consider if you plan to go on to another program when you get your ADN.
