Taking the NCLEX-RN in a week for the second time, have a couple questions

Published

Hey everyone!

So I finally got my ATT and have scheduled my test date! I am nervous because I did not pass the first time and I am worried I will not pass this time either. I have taken so many practice questions and seem to be doing quite well on them (mostly NCLEX 4000). I feel much more confident on answering questions as well and have a good feeling but I know that there is also a possibility that I might fail again. My questions are:

1.) When I took the NCLEX the first time, I had a ton of SATA questions, does that mean that I will have a lot of SATA questions the second time? Also, will the questions be all random again or will they be of the same topic as the first test?

2.) Does the NCLEX look at how long it takes you to answer a question? I'm kind of a slow reader and I feel like last time I took the test I rushed myself too much. Will taking my time on the test hurt my chances of passing?

3.) What are some things you do to calm yourself down before the test (like the day before) and get in a good frame of mind?

Any feedback is much appreciated! Thank you in advance! :)

1) No it does not mean you will get either more or less SATA questions, the second time i took mine i had fewer SATA. Questions will be random, you will not get the same questions again. I also had fewer math questions. You just never know what your going to get.

2) I don't think taking your time will affect your chances but you don't want to take too long either. Take the time to read the question and understand what it is asking you, as well as the answer choices.

3) The day before i was doubting myself if i was ready, but i think almost everyone feels that way. I had put in the time to prepare. I couldn't keep myself from not studying but didn't study much. I went over lab values and math calculations. I hung out with my family and went to the gym where i let out a lot of stress and anxiety. Always reassured myself that I can do it and prayed a lot.

I too failed my first one and was scared i would fail again. Got it the second time and im sure you will too. You seem like your prepared. Good luck to you.

1. It will be random and will depend on how you answer.

2. Try to give each question a maximum of a minute to answer.

3. I thought that I would be an RN after the exam. Just think of the test as being a stone that you need to step on to get there. Also, I accepted the fact that I AM an RN and I should think like one to conquer the test. That's what the test is anyway, to see if you're ready to enter practice.

Good luck!

Thank you both! These are very helpful answers :)
