Taking NCLEX in NY & GA

Hi~

I will be graduating this december, 2007 in Georgia.

I am planning to move to NY after working for at least 1 year in GA because I got cancellable loan from state.

I heard that the NCLEX in NY is different from in GA. Is it possible to take NCLEX in GA & NY at the same time? or any test is available for different state nurse in order to work in NY?

Thanks all :balloons:

A) You only have to take the NCLEX once -- once you are licensed in one state (GA, in your case), you can apply for licensure in other states by endorsement if you're moving, without taking the NCLEX again.

B) People here keep mentioning they've heard that the NCLEX is harder in one state or another ... Although the way the exam is set up now, everyone's test is unique and somewhat different from everyone else's, there is no difference in overall difficulty from state to state! The exam is nationally standardized -- the computer you take the test on doesn't know whether it's in GA, NY, or Timbuktu. :)

Welcome to allnurses, and best wishes for your studies!

Thank you for your advice, elkpark!

It is really helpful and I need to find out the state edorsement after passing NCLEX.

If I were you I would take my nclex in georgia and see what you need to do to transfer to ny because I am a ny nurse and you have to take some classes that you might not in georgia, like abuse certification,
