Taking NCLEX in MI, attended school out of state?

Published

I am so confused on what to do with registering for NCLEX. My school is giving instructions about needing to register early for NCLEX. I can't tell from the state's website if I can register for NCLEX before actually graduating. I hate to have to wait another month or two to take the NCLEX after graduation because of paperwork. Does anybody have any clarification or ideas on this? Do I have to have my actual transcripts available to register to take the test or just to get my license in Michigan? Frustrated.

I was in the same situation a few months ago. It's actually very simple. Once you apply to get your license and get your fingerprints taken, MI will give you a control number. You can apply to Pearson whenever you want, just like your other classmates. After graduation, you have the school send your final transcript to the MI BON. Within 2wks, you will be emailed your ATT. Depends on the load they have. You will honestly see that you and your classmates will get authorization around the same time.

Thank you so much!!! Last question, how soon before graduation can I apply for my license and test? I see now that I read more on the application now it says list current or completed nursing program and graduation and/or anticipated graduation date. So the only question I have left is how soon before graduation should I submit this thing!

No problem. I applied about 3 or 4 months before I graduated before the others so I'll be in the system. I had no delays in anything.
