Taking NCLEX in 9 days

Published

I scheduled my NCLEX for 9 days from today. I graduated from ADN school May 10th. I am having second thoughts and basically panic attacks after reading a few posts on here! Is it really that bad??!!! I graduated #1 in my class of 46 people, and on my ATI exit exam i scored an 83% which translates to a supposed 99% chance of passing nclex on the first try. (not sure how accurate that is though)

Since graduation I have been spending on average about 3 hours a day studying content and doing practice questions.. I did the hurst review back in December, and I am now using exam cram, lacaritys PDA book, and ncsbn for practice questions.

ncsbn i am getting anywhere from 60% to 75%

lacharity is very difficult for me, but i would say i am getting more than 1/2 of the questions right per chapter

hursts Q review i scored 69 and 72% on the 2 i have taken so far

can someone give me some insight?? does it sound like i should re schedule? i was feeling pretty confident until i read what people are saying :(

Well the Pearson trick works!! Got 75 questions... shut off... went home, did the trick, got the good pop-up and my license was active the next morning. Feels so surreal!!

oh! congratulatons!! :) i chickened out and rescheduled mine for this Monday. I am mad at myself now and wish i would have just taken when i originally scheduled!! (especially bc i am really burnt out on studying) but again, CONGRATS!

@Kay21 u can do it believe and have faith! Pray as much as you can! Uve done a great job with ur studying! When ur suck on a question take a deep breath, pray and continue have faith in the lord and everything is come to ya! Good Luck!

Congrats to everyone who passed! :-) we can all to this!!!

Kay21, you can do this! It is not that hard, really! I found the practice questions to be much harder than the actual questions!

And...when you find out you passed, it is the greatest feeling in the world!

@arrisub, thanks. that helps ease some of my anxiety! hoping i get that great feeling tomorrow also!! :)

It sounds harsh, but the test sucks. (Not necessarily from being hard, but from the pressure you put on yourself.) Know that you have worked extremely hard for this! You put in the time to go to school and to study. The scariest part isn't the actual test, but sitting for the test and waiting for results.

I took my exam in July '11. I was four days away from my exam and 8pm four days before the exam I changed my exam time to the next morning---I couldn't look at a single book anymore. I didn't give myself time to think and after I switched the time, the exam time and date I was originally scheduled for was already gone. It was the best decision I made. No more second guessing myself, just going for it.

When I was traveling to get to the test, I made a playlist of my favorite 'pump me up' songs. I remember listening to Katy Perry - Firework on repeat.

When I was a competitive swimmer a thought we always had before we would race was 'What the mind believes the body will achieve.' While it doesn't really correspond literally to exams as it does physical activity -- just believe in yourself.

I wish absolutely everyone the best of luck with their exams.

cmr4188 is absolutely right! The day before the test, I was doing practice questions. I tried to stop, but literally shook every time I went away from it. But you studied, and are ready. So was I, I just didn't realize it!

My drive to the test song was "Three Little Birds"...don't worry...about a thing...cuz every little thing...gonna be all right :)

Once I sat down and started, everything melted away and i was back in class doing ATI.

You will do fine -- I expect to hear tomorrow that you got the good popup! Good luck!

AH! i am getting quite nervous now! its 5:40pm here so about 13 hours till i am testing! today i have read through my hurst review notes and read all my rationales from previous test questions that i got wrong. i'm thinking about looking over the lab values, doing a couple more chapters in my PDA book, then forcing myself to STOP! I hope it goes well (and that i am able to actually sleep tonight!) i will post here tomorrow after i am done! :)
