In my opinion, in situations in which the NLC isn't involved, it is typically best to apply for licensure in the state you ultimately want to work in. As for the delay in your ATT from CA, when you consider the time in applying in MD, and then endorsing your license to CA, I'm not sure there is much, if any time savings.
You might get better information regarding the time involved if you post this in the CA forum.
Best wishes.

I am currently a nursing student in the state of MD and will be graduating in august and plan on working and moving to the state of CA after. I have heard CA is a long process in order to receive your ATT. I am debating whether to take the NCLEX in CA or in another state and transfer it over to CA? (I was also told some jobs in California does not take “temporary RN license” and would need a permanent license in hand when applying to jobs) which also frustrates me if waiting. I am unsure of what to do at this point. Please advise! Thank you
