Is it okay to take the masters in nursing after i pass the nclex? I mean, am i supposed or required to have a job experience first before taking masterals?

and will it be okay if i study masters in a different country?

@leewy I'm sorry, my response was intended for the OP's situation but to answer your question, I really don't know what's their concentration, I just know that they got their MSN and MAN in the Philippines. However, some of my friends still on the waiting process and their applications have been like that for years.

Maybe you can get in contact with your classmates or have your other contacts get in touch with them to ask about the MSN equivency ? Via emails or FB?

Maybe also ask them what state's they are in? Also, if they got the H1B?

Apparently, none of my friends got any visa yet, they've been waiting for years, some of them pulled out their applications and looked into new options.

No worries! :) Well, I think I have to seek another way around. Anyway, thank you for your kind response! :)

Yes, the best and quickest way to is get a few year's of working experiences using your degree, not volunteer work, but actual paid work. Good luck.

Most schools in the Philippines require students enrolling for master's degree to have at least one year of work experience (volunteer, nursing or non-nursing) as a requirement.

With regards to applying for a US Visa, given your qualifications (as an NCLEX registered nurse and someone who took MS outside of the US), unfortunately, for nurses, the only option that we have is the green card.

This means to say that you ought to have a relevant work experience as a nurse, pass the nclex and qualify for visa screen... which as you mentioned would take a while because of the retrogression.

That's the same thing our US employers told us when they came here to screen us. They bluntly told us that it would take some time but it would jumpstart when the release date reaches 2012.
