Taking the HESI entrance exam on Aug. 14th!!

Published

hi everyone! my name is beckie and i am taking the hesi entrance exam in a couple of weeks. i have been studying from the guide on the hesi website but i was just wondering what i should focus on from anyone who has taken it already. i am really worried about the A&P section only because i have only had A&P 1 so far. i am trying to teach it to myself and i am really stressing out about it. any words of advice would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

I can't help you with the A&P part, as the school I applied for did not use that part of the entrance exam (yeah me!!)! The res tof the test is pretty basic. The Hesi study guide is PERFECT for covering what is on the test!! The reading part gave me the most trouble. It was not so easy to choose the answer!! There was not really any grammar as in blah blah blah pick the noun stuff!! Brush up on your math based on the study guide and you should be fine!! Good luck to you!! I know I was told on a Thursday that my exam was Monday, and I did VERY well (90%), well enough to get one of 36 seats in the class out of over 400 applicants!! This test, if you study that guide and practice those sample questions should be enough to prepare you!! Good luck, and let us know how you did!!

Beckie.. do you have the hesi study guide booklet?? I see that your post is referring to the online study guide, and I am not familiar with that. The one I was refering to, is actually a paper guide!! GOOD LUCK!!!

yes i do have the paper booklet. there is a lot on A&P in there and i just hope it doesn't go more in depth than the book ya kno?? cause it is already hard as is.

I am taking it early Sept. The school I am applying to makes us go down and register for it, and pay for it before we can get our slot to take it. We can register after Aug 27, and my slot will be between then and late Sept.

I can't help you with whats going to be on it because I haven't taken it yet. I can however tell you I am in the same boat. I am so nervous about the A&P portion. I am just going by the study guide. It tells you exactly what to study and thats what I am studying. I have made new flash cards that I am studying (all the stuff has leaked out since A&P).

i had to do the same thing register and pay before the test as well. i think i will just study from the book and not my anatomy book which confused the crap out of me. i hope it is just basic stuff and not too in depth. ill let you know cause i take it before you. i hate that we find out the score right after and also that its on a computer. that scares me lol.

I am having to use my A&P book. The Hesi study guide just says what will be on it, but really doesn't go into detail about the subject matter they are taking about (in regard to A&P). So I look in the study guide and then look the material up in my A&P book and make flash cards.

Do let me know how it goes. I am so nervous!!! Good luck.

i'm planning to take the hesi a2 around the middle of sept. i can completely relate to all. i am scheduled to start chem. i and physiology i on august 15. i will have only been exposed to these two courses for approx. one month prior to taking the exam. i am extremely nervous. i have a question regarding the math portion of the exam.... are calculators allowed??? i have heard that some pre-entrance exams allow them while others do not. does anyone know for sure how it is on the hesi a2? i appreciate any info. to all of those who are preparing to take the exam..........good luck!!!!!!!! my thoughts and prayers are with you!

I have heard that the calculators are part of the computer program and pop up with SOME questions that they allow you to use it own. You cannot bring your own.

Thank you so much for the information.... That clears things up a bit.
