This question goes out to those of you who have taken the Florida CNA exam. When it comes to the handwashing, do I have to take my watch off and put it back on when I am done or do I make certain to wash my wrist thoroughly? Also, what 3 skills tend to be the most tested? Oh, and can a digital watch be used or does it have to be one with a second hand? I know, it's a lot of questions.... I'm just starting to get worried! lol I ask just so I have a general idea where to focus skills-wise. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

I'm not from Florida but no you don't have to take your watch off just make sure to thoroughly was your hands and wrists also. As for having a second hand watch, I don't know if it is required in Florida, but I know I was required to have one for my state test though in Arizona. I actually prefer the second hand watch...And the skills most tested will definitely vary. The day I took my test, with 6 other people, everyone had to do Bedpan and Output, TPR or blood pressure, the other 3 were random and of course handwashing, everyone gets. The 4 skills I had were:
1. Bedpan and Output
2. Mouthcare of Comatose Pt.
3. Anti-embolic Stocking
4. TPR
So best of luck to you let us know how it turns out!

I am in Florida passed in June. I didn't even think about the watch and had it on. So it's fine to leave on.
I got:
Ambulation
Pressure
Foot care
Good luck you will be fine just think or your steps as you do them and say them out loud so that you are properly addressing the patient!
Thanks! I'm just starting to get really nervous since tomorrow is do or die day!
Should I wear white shoes or black?
Doesn't matter for the exam. I wore black.

[/QUOI took both my wedding ring and watch off reguardless and stuck them in my pocket b4 I took the FL. CNA test and left them in my pocket until I left the building. Make sure to leave your purse and cell in the car but take your keys with you along with your SS card ect. that you were told to bring.

Sorry to hear that, some extra practice and I'm sure you will pass. I found YouTube videos helpful (if they do the skills right) practice on friends and say the steps as you are doing them. Good luck!

I also took the exam in Florida. I passed the written & failed the skills. I'm due to take mine again in January & I intend to take my time instead of rushing to get through it like I did last time.
I'm also going to practice every skill until I can do it in my sleep. I can't afford to fail next time as I already have a job lined up & they are waiting for me to pass!
Good luck.

I'm taking it in January. I am also nervous about the skills. Do we have to wear a scrub bottom or can we wear just a scrub top? Just wondering....
I'm practicing everything on my mom... and I really like these videos: http://deptets.fvtc.edu/nursing/index.htm
Good luck next time
